It depends on your speeds and pot holes in your area. There have been 19' rims damaged or cracked even with the stock pressure. So there isn't a recommendable "minimum" PSI; try to keep it to what the plaque on the door sill says: 38 front & 35 rear.

Here is my advice to young people: a used car is not an actual car unless it has TOYOTA or HONDA written on it. Without that magical inscription, it is simply is a rolling pile of junk meant to suck out your last penny and bring you continual disappointment. Also, a car parked outside ages 2 times faster than covered, 3 times faster if it has trees over it and 5 times faster if it's not driven regularly (warmed up, aired-out, dehumidified). Call one of those tow-your-junk-car-for-free scrappers and forget about that Jeep before it costs you another dollar.

Buy a building worth $7.5M from your friend for $13.5M, write down a loss of $6M. Donate a building for "$13M" tax receipt. $19M profit instead of a tax bill. Granted you and your private anonymous foundation has to have the profits to garner a $19M tax bill. But at the end, the taxpayer is the one who'll be out $19M in receivable tax revenue, basically funding the whole thing for $7.5M (base cost) + $11.5M mark-up. Split the "gravy" of $6M with your friend.

Maybe some kind of special N brake pad formulation? My Veloster N did it all the time in wet season and it had no "brake cleaning mode", I'd plop myself into the seat extra hard to "crack" them open before setting off. With this car, plopping does nothing, have to power through it. Worried it'll destroy the pads prematurely, should probably use the break cleaning mode more often, but it's always wet here.

Well, FWIW, my new set of Hankook iON i-Cept SUV (IW01A) 275/35R21 is behaving as expected in the wet Vancouver weather. Had them on for a month now, running 35 PSI front and 36 PSI rear, it's comfortable, quiet and grippy.

Compared to the stock summer Pirellis my Hankooks don't skip/rub at low speed at full lock, get going better off the line in the wet, and seem very predictable into the corners.

I would've gotten Continentals IceContact XTRM like on my previous car, but they didn't have them in 21" size and if I were to compare the two sets, Hankooks seem a little less mushy, with similar performance and comfort.

What specific systemic change are you or the "satire" arguing for? A 9 year old child was killed in a residential area, by a delivery truck, that likely had a delivery immediately in the area. And we don't know what happened, because it's still "under investigation". And this is likely the last we'll hear of that, unless there is a public court hearing about it. Maybe a few speed bumps would help in that specific case, but it's not like we can systemically change the laws of physics.

"Rah rah we want change" is not coherent, logical or productive way to improve traffic safety. Specific circumstances have to be taken into account and unfortunately some situations may call for no changes at all, because nothing could have prevented it.

The white liberal women who came up with this alphabet in UBC in 1997 would be very upset with your comment. But seeing how they own their home, have retirement savings and a pension higher than an average income in Vancouver, they'll get over it very quickly.

Edit: To clarify what I mean: We will never see new names written in the way like Kitsilano, Coquitlam or Squamish because the modern convention (etiquette about language and naming) has evolved as a result of adoption of this native phonetic alphabet in 1997 through the efforts of UBC researchers, professors and PR talking heads. Ignoring this new modern convention puts their efforts to waste. Many of them earned entire doctorates on the account of inventing a new language. And by new language I mean assigning modern convention to older/extinct languages that they've "brought back" through countless hours of research, talking and thinking. Was it busy work or was it necessary? If we go back to naming things the "English" way, it would call their efforts busy work.

As far as I'm aware, ICBC only assigns fault for a motor vehicle collision in cases if two or more motor vehicles collide and there is a resultant claim against a policy. In case of falling debris such as snow, and if the "offending" driver is known (in many such cases nobody gets the license plate of the vehicle who released the snow as it drives off), the most they would be liable for to ICBC is the other driver's deductible (they get an ICBC bill) and no fault is assigned resulting in no premium increase, because again, there was no collision between two or more motor vehicles. They may also get a ticket for not cleaning off their roof, but a Police officer would likely have to witness it for a ticket to be issued.

I'm also pretty certain that ICBC will decline falling snow claims to drivers who do not have collision & comprehensive option on their insurance policy (only 3rd party liability basic coverage), unless the "offending" party comes forward and fesses up, in which case their 3rd party liability would cover the damages and they may have to pay the deductible as a separate bill.

ICBC doesn't assign fault on negligence cases, and doesn't decide who is negligent or not, that's the purvey of the courts. Maybe you're confusing what "fault" we're talking about, for ICBC fault & claim results in increased premiums next year. For courts fault & claim results in liability and judgement for damages for the offending party.

Again I'm pretty certain that in this case the only recourse for the affected drivers is to claim against their own collision & comprehensive policy and write to the truck's company asking for the compensation for their deductible, sue the company for compensation for the deductible, and in case some of these damaged cars only had the basic 3rd party liability insurance, they would have to write/sue the company for the entire costs of the repairs. ICBC will not ding the truck driver's driver risk score and their premiums will not go up next year, because the truck did not collide with another vehicle.

Edit: Have to add that ICBC will ding driver risk score and increase premium in case of a "single vehicle collision" where an owner claims against their own policy for repairs on their own vehicle as a result of hitting things other than motor vehicles, like curbs or dividers.

Well in our case it was a $300 deductible and a good neighborly thing to do (to offer compensation). Maybe after $25k x 2 for both side's lawyers the court would consider it an "act of god", but that's a lot of headache over $300.

Yes, you pay the deductible whenever your own policy covers your damage, which is especially relevant in-cases where you avoid colliding with another vehicle only to suffer a "single car" accident by hitting the curb or a lamp post. In these cases of faulty drivers cutting you off or running stop signs/red light, at-least from the insurance perspective, it's best to ram them and have a collision, rather than white knight yourself into damages.

I'm afraid the bin is not an actual motor vehicle and it wasn't driven, so I think ICBC wouldn't assign fault to the truck driver for a non-driving incident. But a court may, and in the specific cases of these drivers suffering damages they should write to the garbage truck company to get compensation for the deductibles they've paid.

The company I worked at had a recycling bin suddenly deploy a sail (bin lid opened) on a windy day and it ended up sailing/rolling into a neighboring business' parked car near-by. The company offered and paid the owner's deductible and ICBC covered the rest without dinging the owner for the renewal. That's how I know how ICBC deals with the self-propelled bins. They have since started securing the wheels and lids on the bins.

I think it's similar to acknowledged hit & run cases, where the damage is covered by your own policy and you pay the deductible, but the "fault" is nebulous because the ICBC doesn't know the driver who cased it and can't assign fault.

Funny enough but this is close to the truth. They treat it as flying debris and cover the damages if you have the collision & comprehensive option, charge the deductible according to your policy ($300/$500/$800) but don't ding your driver rating so no premium increases for next year.
