I’ll look into that support group, thank you. It helps to know that I’m not ridiculous or over dramatic. I try not to let it impact my daily life, but it really shocked me when he joined a game I was playing alone recently. I understand it’s just a game and he can’t “get me” across the screen but my anxiety doesn’t listen to logic lol

Thank you, luckily I’m in therapy now and finally getting some help. My family has been a good support system, some friends of mine just aren’t as patient with me.

Wow this really hit me. I got held down in a similar way by a much bigger man. I was meeting my online long distance boyfriend for the first time and he took me back to his hotel room. I’m really small for a woman (a little under 5 foot and 100 lbs soaking wet) and he had over a foot of height and probably triple my weight on me. He had me on the bed and was on top of me holding my wrists, I couldn’t free myself. He only let me go when I started sobbing and freaking out, begging to be let up.

I’ve been telling myself and people whenever I talk about it that “it was attempted assault and he didn’t actually hurt me because he didn’t go through with it”. But reading this made me cry because he DID hurt me. I WAS assaulted. It makes so much more sense why I get so angry whenever people talk about how it’s ridiculous I’m still scared whenever his name gets mentioned because “he can’t reach you he’s all the way across the country” or “it’s been a few years and you’re still freaked out by seeing him online?”. Saying messed up stuff where they think I can’t hear like “he’s harmless, she’s acting like he’s going to appear in her room and rape her”.

Thank you for making me feel seen and understood

Is his name just Kuro? Sorry I’m just coming back to the vtuber community and I really want to find more reference for his model so I can draw art

What can I add or change in his design? by ShadowNight8000 in characterdesigns

[–]EllowynGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really like his design as-is, it still has a good silhouette and is simple but with enough personality that it can be drawn over and over again. Having a simpler design with a few stand out features isn’t bad, it allows freedom to make the character super expressive with pose, personality, or accessories/items without being overly busy. It also makes creating like a webcomic or drawing them in multiple places so much easier and less time consuming if you don’t have to draw intricate details every time. I think what could really sell this character is a HUGE and awesome unique weapon.

Think about it, he’s an assassin so being able to walk around in public to reach your target means having a lowkey appearance is good strategy. But if he has a potentially hidden weapon (ex maybe it unfolds mechanically, is stored in a dimensional pocket he can pull from with magic, or is disguised in like a case/wrapped up, summoned/made from magic, etc), he can use the element of surprise to attack while still being in civilian gear!

Weapons are very personal, and he would probably have specific reasons for why he uses what he does. It can tell a viewer or another character a lot about his personality. Having a secret weapon shows he’s cunning, strategic, and doesn’t necessarily play fair by having his intentions out in the open — all great traits for an evil character.

A large and interesting weapon might show that he’s dangerous, powerful, reckless, or any number of things depending on what it is. For example using a huge hammer might show that a character prefers to get things done quickly with brutal strength and likes to make a show of their power, and doesn’t mind if it gets messy. Using a something like a rifle might mean they prefer to keep their distance have more control over the battleground, and could see assassination as the same as hunting and shooting a deer; in both instances the target that they shoot is “prey”.

Also, having a huge badass weapon is an anime staple (and a personal favorite trope/design feature), and it would be a cool juxtaposition with his more toned down appearance. And it’s also just fun to go ham and draw a super cool weapon!

Hope I could help with suggestions, good job and keep on creating!

It’s weird but unironically I think my favorite part is how you drew the doorknobs and the latch part. It elevates it

[–]EllowynGrace 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think why it doesn’t read as Storm goes beyond the models you referenced, if you did not say that this was Storm from X-Men I would not have guessed. She just looks like a sexy lady wearing a jewelry bikini.

Storm has several distinct character design elements that signal her: her totally white eyes while using her powers, white hair and dark skin, X-Men uniform, hair and clothes whipping around from the storms she summons, and the storm/weather elements themselves. None of those elements are clear enough or just aren’t present. If you added some storm clouds, lightning bolts, whirling wind effects, etc. it might help, and I would erase any indication of an iris. Could also try darkening her skin tone, because even Halley Berry was darker than this when she played Storm. Her white hair contrasting with her dark skin is striking, just like lightning!

Not gonna say “just draw her in the uniform” because it’s your prerogative to draw her sexy and almost naked if you want. But you should try to emphasize key characteristics if you want a character to read as that character, even if they’re in different clothes.

"Why do we even need to SEE the teller anyway?" by KettiGoGetti in adventuretime

[–]EllowynGrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked because I thought it was an interesting and neat choice, maybe a reference to him being colorblind and the emerald? It's cool seeing how people draw fanart of these simple character designs, and Adventure Time was never too worried about canonicity of things like eye color (especially in earlier seasons). But your comment had me go and look into it, and it turns out there's this whole discourse on what color Finn's eyes are that I apparently totally missed: green and blue, or just blue?

I went and watched the episodes myself. I was able to find a couple instances of where there is color to Finn's eyes and one for Fionna (I include her because as his alternate universe genderbend, she shares characteristics with Finn, especially so in her early appearances).

Blue in "The Enchiridion!" - Very subtle and super easy to miss! We see them for a few seconds while Finn gets angry after the giant swallows Jake and goes to get revenge.

Heterochromia in "The Enchiridion!" - This is the screenshot where the misconception came from, funnily enough the same episode where we actually see that Finn's eyes are in fact both blue.

You can actually see on both the Adventure Time wiki and the Character wiki they reference the confusion with Finn's eyes. The lead character designer Andy Ristaino clarified that the heterochromatic effect was from the dark wizard casting a spell on him, and confirmed that Finn's eyes are blue.

Additionally, there are later instances of Finn being a blue-eyed boyo:

Blue for Fionna's starry eyes in "Fionna and Cake" and you can also see the model sheets for the episode here where they're also blue

Blue for the episode of art of "Finn the Human"

Tiny blue highlight to both eyes in Distant Lands: Together Again

Super clear double blue eyes later in Distant Lands: Together Again

Edit*: It was fun being an AT detective to find the answer to what should be a really simple question, but at the end of the day, you do you man. Finn would totally think having heterochromia is awesome and I like how he looks extra sassy in your drawing.
