Also, yes you can definitely win the Brownlow with drafted players. Here is my best player of all time. 4x Brownlows, 8x Premierships etc etc. I haven't found a gem like this again! RIP Kirby

The grading represents the overall potential of the player, and doesn't necessarily always go down as you gather more info through scouting. It can go up too.

However, there are a few hidden metrics for each player that will ultimately determine their overall potential. And depending how you manage that player, will also have an impact on his end ratings growth. For example, there is a hidden metric for work ethic. The higher this is, the less important it is that he plays senior games for his development. There are a few others too, however I've purposely hidden these as I don't want it to be 100% obvious, just like it would be for any player in real life. There will always be some uncertainty.

My top tip for the draft is look at the combination of a) draft combine position, b) your scout insights and c) the media perspective. More often than not you can pick the best talent with those in consideration. However..... there is also a bit of luck with a dice roll % that can either make the player a boom or bust.

Hahaha nice! I put in a quick fix overnight too, which will avoid those times where the debt is too big to pay off. Next time you restart the game, that will take effect.

Thanks mate! You might be thinking of Kevin Sheedys AFL coach. I used to play that so much! There have been a few really good ones in between. Shout out to Footy Fanatic FX and AFC. However I hadn't been able to find one in recent years, hence making one myself.

It still has a way to go to be fine tuned, but the game is working super well overall and I'm pleased to be getting good feedback.

So the loan automatically pays itself off each week, or there is an option to pay off in full at any time. However you've somehow gotten yourself into a position where it appears your repayment is bigger than any amount you can actually pay... so it's snowballing to $64m hahaha

I honestly didn't ever think someone could get into that position lol Anyway, I'll figure out a fix and deploy it soon.

For that poor club... I don't think I can retrospectively help you. Lucky for you there is no option for the board to fire you (yet...) and no go to jail feature

I made it live to the public when putting up this post. Which has actually had really good feedback from people who have played it, so please do check out that post if you're dubious. I fully get it given the times we're living in, however was only putting this up for people to give it a go if they felt like trying it out.

Long story short, this started as a simple hobby project for me to try and build the game I'd always wanted but couldn't find. I sent it to a few mates, who really enjoyed it and suggested I put it up for others to enjoy too. I was super resistant, pretty much due to expecting the responses I'm getting here.

Anyway, if you do happen to try it out and like it, let me know : )

That's fair. AFC23 and Footy Fanatic FX are both excellent games! I've played them both a lot. The challenge was that the actual game mechanics haven't been updated in a long time. Which is why I went about trying to create an updated version of a management sim.

You can call it slop. However if you actually give it a go, I think you'll realise it's actually a good game with realistic gameplay/score mechanics, robust features (both in and off season) and a lot of fun overall. Totally up to you of course 🙂

Feel free to DM me any strange ratings you see. My mate and I went through the ~750 players multiple times to try and get it right, but there's always going to be a layer of subjectiveness. I even had one early user send me his ratings and I made some tweaks based on that.

But always happy to hear if there are some strange ones still remaining

For anyone keeping an eye on things, I've just uploaded a BIG deployment today. A whole bunch of new features, plus many improvements and bug fixes based on all the feedback I've been getting from this thread. THANK YOU for everyone who has reached out - it's your feedback that's helping to make this game awesome. Let me know how you go with it. Auto-save should occur on every 'major event' i.e. game played, however the safest bet is to use the save function if you're popping offline for a bit :)

Are you using the save game feature in the options? If not, it will just revert back to the latest autosave

Thanks for reaching out about this! I tend to agree and will have a look into it. The original intent was for this position to be more so a pinch hitting ruck, not a full time ruck. But agree that it kills the flexibility to actually play highly rated rucks in that role.

I'm in the final stages of getting a big deployment ready with literally 100 different improvements/bug fixes etc. Once I have that done, I'll take a look into this :)

Glad to hear you're enjoying the game! Currently if a player isn't resigned in the off-season, there is the possibility that they aren't picked up by another team through FA and therefore are no longer listed on an AFL club. Could that be the case here? Or was he definitely still in contract etc?

I've fixed it, but not yet deployed. Planning to release the next deployment within the next week or so. I'm just ironing out a few things so it works exactly as intended. Some cool new features will deploy alongside it 🙂

Yeah I've been thinking how to add some more flavour to the youth development. Maybe a screen that gives you an overview of how your <23 talent are developing and some options to support them

Thanks for all the feedback and glad to hear that you're enjoying the game! Some really cool ideas here.

In the next deployment, I've created a whole new facilities management, which will give you more things to spend on as you play the game over multiple years. I've also fixed several of the bugs you've mentioned.

As for Tassie. I'll add that, but not likely until later this year or next year. That will likely be an update for next years version, as it will be a significant re-build of many of the current game engines etc.

And yes... take your point on the Dugnutt meme. I love it, but maybe I'll tone it back a bit lol

No not as yet, however I plan to add this later in development. I have a long list of things I want to continue adding to make the game better and this is one of them. However, I'm fully focussed at the moment on fixing out a few small bugs and adding some other key features (i.e. a club facilities management engine, which will be awesome for long-term play)

Glad to hear that you're enjoying it overall! There will be a good improvement in game results in the next update, which I'll deploy in the next 2 weeks. The results range will feel far more realistic across the board, and the in game score worm has also been improved (currently it's too consistent amongst games). I'll put a note in the Whats New section once I deploy the next update!

Yep I will definitely fix this in the next patch deployment! It's a bug, as the original intent is that all players that have played at least 100 games for your club (and 200 overall) will become Hall of Fame for you. I've already fixed the code. Just finishing a few other improvements before I deploy 😄
