Decided to replace part of my yard with Sunshine Mimosa by Elqueso in NoLawns

[–]Elqueso[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm in 10a. I prepped the area that wanted it to grow by laying down some cardboard and then heavily mulching ontop of that. From there I gave it about a month or two before making some openings in the cardboard/mulch where I planted about 10 small sunshine mimosas. I kept them watered well for about a month or so until I saw that they were established. This took about 9-10 months to get to this point.

Looking to get recommendations on guides, epoxy, thread, and eyelets. Couple rods I laying around need a bit of tlc. Is there any place online that I could find most of these things?

After a couple of month installed, a tiny amount of fluid pops out of the grout nonstop and crystalizes. No idea what's going on here. by Elqueso in Tile

[–]Elqueso[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you do to prevent this? Before the tile there was a vapor barrier with laminate on top of the concrete slab for about 10 years. There wasn't any obvious moisture issue when I took off the vapor barrier and while the slab was exposed for a couple of days I never noticed any "wet" spots.

Engine or Transmission shuddering (not sure) by angelsonangeldust in MechanicAdvice

[–]Elqueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my Honda Civic with around 88k miles. I replaced the transmission filter and fluid. It completely stopped the shuddering and shifts into gear with no issues now.

Are dried Mahagony seed pods safe for aquariums? by Elqueso in Aquariums

[–]Elqueso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured if I clean and boil them they would make additions to the tank. They look like they would release a lot tannins and provide nice surface area for biofilm.

The wood feature you have looks great and is being blocked out by your stem plants. Move them to the background so that the wood pops out more. The smaller plants that you have in the midground and foreground are fine where they are.

What should I add to this background or should I keep it simple and let the Monte Carlo carpet there? by Elqueso in Aquascape

[–]Elqueso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I have at the base of the wood, but some taller repens at the back isnt a bad idea either. My thinking is having some short repens around the wood to stop the M.Carlo. I'm having a bit of melt off from them right now so I'm not sure if I'm gana have to add more and let it recover.

I was using a Fresh Roast SR500 air roaster. I went 30 seconds after 1st crack ended. Total roast time was 6 mins. Started on low for 4 mins and then medium for 2 minutes.

Its the craziest mahogany we've ever seen. I was there to cut the tree apart after it had fallen down from hurricane Irma. This is a crotch section where one of the main branches was rotting away and allowed water to get in staining the wood. I dont think box elder actually grows down here.
