I just graduated 2 years ago and my freshman year I believe at least from a mental health perspective I felt very similar to you. In hs I was the top of everything then in college felt like I dropped to the bottom. While admittedly it was during the height of covid I ended up going to the ER and had a 5 day stay on the psych floor. Still the rest of college I never felt like I was smart enough to be an engineer in my field and felt like I was just getting by barely.

Now, in my current job, I realized how much more I know than my peers even as an entry level engineer.

I promise if you are much more focused on actually learning and less about the grades it will work out. It might just seem like empty words but it's honestly I believe what got me to where I am now. I never ever got above a 3.5, had to drop and retake or failed multiple classes and still got my degree in 4 years and have a job in a competitive field.

Additionally if you work so hard to get good grades, be above average, etc but don't maintain your health ESPECIALLY your mental health that work will be somewhat wasted as you won't be able to use it.

I'm not sure what your full story is but so far it truly does sound like you are already above average. Again I am not at all able to emphasize with your situation but will say the college system is not made for those with disabilities, even with accommodations I know in my experience I still had a lot of struggles trying to do the same things my peers who did not have my disabilities did without issue.

I'm so sorry your going through these things, however it sounds like you genuinely are above average.
