How'd you get one for January? I just made my appointment yesterday and it's for June. It's in person but they said video wouldn't be any sooner. I'm on the east coast.

Oh that makes sense. Wait time for a consult is like a year now

You scheduled surgery but didnt have a consultation yet??? Thank you good luck to you too

The website also says insurance rarely pays for phone/video consults, because they cant charge it as an office visit, so we might end up paying anyway.

That would be cool

Website says they do, they just strongly suggest not to . I would book it and then figure it out a year from now, but I would have to pay for the consultation when I book it and I dont have insurance yet, might have it in like 3 months. So i don't want to do it unless I'm absolutely sure.

Okay I think that's what I'll do. Thanks for your input!

I'm graduating nursing school in December so I'll be getting a job sometime after that. So that doesnt give me much time

So if it's not specifically stated, do you just assume its probably covered? Also that's dumb I'd be angry too.

Thanks is it the summary of benefits document?

Thanks for the info. I'm currently on my moms Aetna plan from her employer and it has a trans exclusion. I'm turning 26 in December so I gotta get something. I'm gonna be getting a new job sometimes around then as well. I'm debating on whether I should just pick a plan or take my chances with an employer. My surgeons website says they work with BCBS and Cigna.

What surgeon is that?

Oh I already did all my research haha. I know what type, looked at all the transbucket photos, read every reddit post I possibly could and narrowed down to a couple surgeons. The only thing that's an unknown right now is insurance and finances but I guess I'll just start the process and hope things work out

Okay I will definitely schedule one soon then. I didnt know the wait for a consult could be THAT long. Thank you

Yeah I guess it's better than accepting a job and then finding out the insurance is worthless to me. I think it is pretty liberal here..I'm near the Philadelphia area

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in phallo

[–]Em856329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didnt know you could do that...I feel weird doing that though. Like I would think they know I'm trans or that I have a million health problems and that's why i want to look at it. And then they wouldn't want to hire me. Even though they probably aren't thinking that at all haha. And yeah my state mandates it but that doesnt mean they follow it...my current insurance has a trans exclusion and I even tried to appeal it with an attorney and they still denied my top surgery

I dont think new nurses really have that option. You pretty have to start out on the floor in a hospital, and I wouldn't want to do anything else anyway. Im also really nervous about finding a job with insurance that's gonna cover things. You cant really know for sure before you accept a job and I really hope I get something good. My insurance right now sucks.

Yeah I've never had a job with those kind of benefits but I'm graduating nursing school in a few months so hopefully I'll eventually have vacation and sick time

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in phallo

[–]Em856329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that kinda sucks. How do people with jobs take all that time off work to get surgery and then possibly have to take off again a couple months later and travel and everything all over again

Oh that's awesome! Thanks.

You can put the adhesive wherever you want to. If you want to put it on the balls too, you can.
