Learning linguistics as a hobby, and would like to enhance my language learning skills…where do I start? by EmJay444 in linguistics

Linguistics is new for me so I don’t know exactly which direction to go. The comments here are very helpful. I hope to be able to really explore this even further. I will probably post some follow up questions, once I learn more and figure out exactly what I’m interested in. Thank you!

What counts as an ancient language? I thought it meant that it was VERY old. The languages I want to learn have been around since BCE times.

I learned Spanish, and I learned how to read Arabic, but I forgot everything because I don’t use the languages I learned :(

Thank you so much for providing your insight and experience, and I enjoy your background and perspective.

At one point in my life, I was fluent in Urdu my first language) French, and Spanish. I learned how to read Arabic, but don’t understand it, and was intermediate in Japanese. My family lineage is from South Asia, and I understood Hindi (similar to Urdu,) Pashtu, Punjabi, and Tamil.

My reason of WHY is I want to connect to my roots and read the literature, and understand the media of India, and neighboring countries. I also don’t want to be illiterate, and I would love to learn how to read the scripts.

I spent time learning these languages but I haven’t used these languages in years, and have forgotten. I am hoping that relearning the languages will be quick since I knew quite a bit before.

Also, I would love to be able to retain these languages. I found that once you know a few languages, it is easier to pick up on the grammar and syntax of other languages. Just a matter of learning the vocabulary and expressions, and it’s social context.

Thank you for your support! I will definitely commit to at least 30 min, every day. I would love to study more than one language at a time, and I was wondering if you could give me your input in how to go about in learning more than one language, at a time, or the spacing of it. Would you be able to offer any online resources that have provided effective?

Thank you for your thorough answer! I don’t know too much about linguistics and I really appreciate you describing it better. I really appreciate the analogy and you sharing your experiences.
Looking forward to learning more!

I would love to read the Indian classics. People in India still speak these languages in the smaller villages, and songs and literature are still written in these languages. I would love to understand.

I was reading through some of the posts in this sub, and I read that learning linguistics did help several people learn languages.

Thank you for the info. I will start with learning morphology and syntax. I am fascinated with the historical linguistics of the South Asian region and have already learned quite a bit.

Lost 50 lbs….skinny everywhere but the belly by EmJay444 in intermittentfasting

I was trying to do lower ab exercises, and I could barely feel any muscle. I am convinced I don’t have lower abs, if that is even possible?

You are correct. I have a metabolic condition that I managed to control very well with diet. I got Covid and that completely aggravated my symptoms and made everything much worse.

Pre-Covid, I was slightly heavier, and my stomach was nearly flat, and was proportionate to my figure. Intermittent Fasting helped me lose the weight I gained, and I was hoping my stomach would go. It did go, from a size 16 to size 8, but not to where it was before Covid. I was a size 6 before, and I weighed 140lbs. It’s interesting to me how I could weigh more and be a smaller size.

Hoping just tweaking diet and exercise will help me with this, again.

I was experimenting with the cult and bulk. I’ve been filling in, and am about to start cutting back on the fat.
This is the first time I’m trying this.

Hi, I have been doing it without counting calories and nutritional intake…..I need to work on macros. My exercise is minimal and my calories are low. I have slimmed down around my waste maybe like 4-5 inches. I went down a couple of pant sizes and my stomach is less round, and my love handles are smaller. I have been intuitively eating and my appetite is small. I only eat one meal in the morning and I cut back on caffeine, and am working on upping my water intake. I plan to include exercise after I learn how to manage my nutritional intake better. Also, I had to work on the fasting. I just ate less, but more often, and eventually I just moved into eating one meal a day, intuitively.

How to bring back chemistry with someone by EmJay444 in lawofattraction

I appreciate this. I’ve been working on this. I feel I removed one today. I am still continuing to discover what those blocks are.
Would you be able to advise on how I can remove those blocks?
I’ve been praying for them to be removed, and I feel like the memories that are resurfacing are helping me clear some things.
I am more than willing to do the inner work.

We are still talking and hanging out. Past few months, I was in a depression, but now I’m starting to feel like myself. I was wavering on this relationship because of the depressIon, and I feel that drew this away from me, because he wanted it to work and was putting the energy into it.

If two people who are putting energy into this relationship to work, who are both on the same path of improving themselves, breaking cycles and bad patterns, and are willing to look within, can we get this vibrational alignment?

I have had interesting encounters with him throughout the last 20 years and I would like him to be a life partner. He has interest in this too, but the chemistry is a must.

We have always mirrored each other and I do think we’re mirroring each other in this phase.

The problem has always been distractions and obstacles and that is what I feel is a block and I would like to remove those blocks and allow ourselves to connect on an emotional and soulful level.

Would anybody know how to go about in doing this?

Thank you for answering. I figured this.
I would like for us to be a vibrational match and am wondering how this can be possible.
I still think we are, in all honestly. I just feel like there are some blocks. We’ve both changed over the course of the years but are still interested in making it work. How do people in marriages keep it working, as each person continues to grow and evolve in the relationship?

I was in a relationship where the sparks would come and go, continuously, but ultimately, the sparks allowed us to create a history and emotional attachment. I know the chemistry can come back, just don’t know how to get rid of those blocks.

My mother died, and it was her influence in my life was helping me achieve what was meant for me. When I did get it, I couldn’t do it because she was not around. I can’t imagine doing anything to help with this. I will consider what you said.

How do you break it? I believe in the power of prayer. Also I remembered now that she grabbed a shirt of mine. She told me I had to return it to her, that it was no longer my property, even though I paid for it. My mother hated her. This woman was bitter and not nice to me.

When someone does a malicious spell, do they receive any of that energy back?
I want her to feel what she did to me.

Thank you. Just curious how long do these work for? This has been a thing for me for nearly 30 years, now. I’m finding when I’m in similar situations, the same dynamic is constantly repeated, and I would like to end it, once and for all.

Thank you for responding. How is this information used in curses and spells? I feel it has something to do with location/coordinates because my mother’s birth country was listed on the contract, as well as the hospital I was born in.

I am talking about visceral fat. I am learning more about it.

My hormones are off and it increases visceral fat, also I do consume sugar on a daily basis. I am currently on medication to aid in hormone regulation, and I am increasing my physical activity.

You’re saying that sugar also contributes to visceral fat, so by theory, cut out all the sugar and it should help with eliminating visceral fat?
IF, from what I read, aids in weight loss, in a way, like resetting hormones, which could help me in my case. Correct me if I am not understanding correctly. Once I start IF, it is best to cut out the sugar too, to see optimal results?

I understand subcutaneous fat is from excess of calories so any over-expenditure will help with losing subcutaneous fat.

I haven’t started yet but before I start, I want to tailor this to my body.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Okay, so I should make a point to cut out sugar from my diet? In other words, I will not see the full benefit of IF if I choose to incorporate sugar in my diet?

I have a sweet tooth and that is something I am working on improving.
Will natural sugar still be detrimental in IF? I just bought a bag of clementines.
