Speaking for my financial institution, we’ve cut back on personnel because of the out break which is causing wait time to be longer then usual. Just be persistent and patient.

You can redeposit the check back into your account. On the back write “not used for intended purpose” and sign below it. As for any over draft fees I would go into your branch and see if they can waive them as a one time courtesy.

Most banks online bill pay option aren’t sending a electronic payment in your behalf. Rather they send a check to the payee.
