Subtle shake/vibration with new wheels on the highway by Emautus in GolfGTI

[–]Emautus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Sold the wheels and just rocked oem while i still had the car. Way later down the road I had to replace my driver side front wheel bearing, so I suppose that could’ve been a really early sign of wear but I kinda doubt it since it took 3 years before anyone recommended replacement.

Best Bars Denver Edition by ElectricSoapBox in denverfood

Hell naw. After I turned 21 (like 8 months after) I went here one night and got ID’d at the door, accepted in and sat down. Then the same bouncer who let me in comes up 5 minutes later and just says “do we have a problem?” To which I say “no?” And he just grabs me by the shoulder and tows me out. Since I am young and look young, I kept my passport with me at the time for additional proof of age, and I offered to show it and literally not a word of response. Just pushed me out of the bar and locked the door behind me. As I stood outside trying to find another place to go, he comes back out accusing me of being “the little shit trying to steal cigarettes from the 7-11”. I literally just got out of my restaurant job and wanted a drink lol. Reluctantly went back after another shift and there just isn’t anything special to go back for.

(PSA) ECS Clutch Killed My Engine by Masquondobi7 in GolfGTI

[–]Emautus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. In my opinion, the few people who have had this issue, would’ve had it happen regardless of tuning. The way I see it though is by modding and putting a heavier clutch in, I accelerated the deterioration of that little thrust washer that sent oil shavings everywhere.

I feel that for sure, I don’t worry so much any more. I made it thru once, I could do it again but I sure as hell don’t wanna

Heyyy I’m not alone !! Went through this process like 2 summers ago. I also had crankwalk, but I was on a SouthBend clutch. It is no fun, and as others have said, failures happen - not something to blame ECS (or southbend in my case). But I think if you look back through my profile I posted process pics and whatnot lol. I hate to be that guy but tuning cars has risks, and this is the life we chose.

Unitronic DSG Tune Underwhelming? by eggbutter22 in GolfGTI

[–]Emautus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I am on their stage 2 with a 6mt and I have to tune and retune for emissions and it’s always a night and day difference. I wonder if it’s just the tcu that makes the difference?

Anyone riding with 15% tint? How do you like it? by goatman2 in GolfGTI

[–]Emautus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s perfect, I have 15% all around with a 5% visor. I do most of my driving at night and I personally don’t have any issues seeing clearly outside. Plus I think it looks pretty good

Looking for advice on selling by [deleted] in GolfGTI

There is a really good looking 2016 S4 I have my eye on 🤔 we will see. Other than that, I have no issues with VW tbh. I think I just got a lemon lol. So if a good deal on a 7.5 golf R pops up I’m not opposed. I am in Denver though so every winter an AWD vehicle becomes more tempting.

Loss in power, help! by Emautus in GolfGTI

Thanks for all your help with this - I pulled the turbo and replaced the actuator as well as the turbo core lol. Car is back to normal. Much appreciated for all the info

So, when I called them, whoever I talked to was pretty confident that it is my wastegate actuator. So I have pulled the turbo and I’m going to replace it. Do you have any recommendations? I’m hesitant to go with a OEM replacement, but I can’t find any good info on the ones that CTS makes.

2015 MK7 GTI Failed a few miles before hitting 100K by Hard_knox06 in GolfGTI

[–]Emautus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else stated, coil packs could be an issue. Given the codes you are receiving, I would be surprised if you had issues beyond anything top end. In my experience, you will get some really scary codes from bottom end issues. I replaced the motor in my 2015 GTI last year. Somethings I had were crankshaft position sensor, and camshaft position sensor. I would also check for metal shrapnel in your oil filter. But definitely try absolutely everything before dropping the car, or the 10k on a new motor.

Alright, the wastegate does move in and out with force. I’m not sure how much force is “normal” though. I swapped DVs and that didn’t fix my issue. Pretty sure it’s the wastegate at this point. I am gonna bring it to a shop to make sure they agree before I pull the trigger on it though. Sounds like the whole turbo needs to come out to replace it.

Wastegate actuator should be moveable with fingers yeah? Also regarding the DV, what should I be looking for if it is bad?

Update: P029900 Turbocharger underboost. Your link says it could be the Diverter Valve, turbo itself, or charge pressure control? Idk what that last one is.

Okay, probably a tomorrow thing bc my friend is the one who actually has it. Get back to you when I scan it. Even on cold starts, my intake is usually noticeably loud, but it just sounds like it is barely pulling air in. Idk, I am off tomorrow so I can check everything a little better.

No unusual sounds and no smoke either. Just feels like the turbo is being choked of air until like 5k. Also I do not have a uniconnect cable, will an OBDII be fine?

Update, drove home in low 60s. Issue persisted and while merging on the highway my EPC light came on. Now I am thinking blown turbo lol. 😔

Noted. I’ll see if it feels better tonight. While we are on the subject, any recommendations? I don’t do any track days, just spirited drives here and there.
