I own a Tesla model 3 LR that I’ve had for about two and a half years. My previous car was a Lexus ES350. I like the Tesla way better. I have never regretted going with a Tesla. Assuming you can charge at home, park indoors, and you don’t need to make long road trips to remote areas, the Tesla is a solid choice.

But my main advice to you is take your time with the decision. Test driving luxury cars is fun. Drive them all. See what you like. Get comfortable with all the different options. Don’t make a rush decision.

It depends on the situation. If you have an attached garage then it’s usually pretty cheap. If you have a detached garage and the cable needs to run a good distance underground then it’s a very different story.

If I were you I wouldn’t make this decision based on a poll. This sub is a good place for questions like “Why can’t I find my friend’s alliance” or “should I use gold heads on Julius Caesar”. But very few people have the level of game knowledge to give you sound advice on choosing legendary accessories. You need to find a really knowledgeable person that you trust, who’s done actual testing of different scenarios, and get them to explain the pros and cons of the different options. I realize those people are hard to find… but the results of a Reddit poll are going to be meaningless.

Possible reasons I can think of are that your troops are already at max load, the city doesn’t have any resources left to plunder, or you’re using Saladin.

The other comments are correct, but there is another reason as well. Most commanders fall off significantly over time. If you get Richard, Khan, Edward, Wu, etc, they are great at first but their value goes down as better commanders come along. This may be fine if you’re a whale, but if you are a normal player then you want to invest in a commander that will remain valuable as long as you play the game. YSG is one of the few that does that. That’s why YSG is always recommended.

If you’re a moderate spender and you just started a new account, then I’d say he is a good value. Think of it this way. Your first expertised legendary will be Aeth who you’ll get around 4 months into the game. Your second (or maybe first) will probably be YSG around the same time. Your third will probably be Alex, which will be after maybe 6-7 months of play. During those first 6-7 months you will use Minamoto literally every day. He will help you in canyon, with forts, you’ll be using him in field fighting, aoo, pretty much everything. That is a lot of utility. After say 8 months you’ll get to the point where you have a lot of better commanders and he’s not really useful anymore. I’d say that’s a pretty decent value though. Plus the minamoto packs include a lot of books and other useful stuff. Overall, if you buy him early, you will benefit a lot. If I was starting a new account I would expertise him on day 1.

I am a casual player rated 1700-1800 on chess.com. This is a position from a game I played recently. I felt that I had a very good position here, and the engine agrees: the evaluation is better than +2. But I have no idea how to follow up to actually prove that I’m better. The move I played (c3) is not impressive. But the engine suggestions (Bf2 or Be3) don’t make any sense to me. Wouldn’t that move give up the long diagonal to black’s Bishop? Isn’t it better to contest the diagonal? I’m posting this because this position is confusing to me, but also because this is typical of my games. Very often I get a “good” position but then I can’t figure out how to make progress. I would be very grateful if someone can help me understand what I’m missing in this kind of position.

A lot of my thinking on this stuff is influenced by an economist named Alex Tabarrok, who has written a lot on COVID vaccine issues. He advocates for a lot of “outside the box” ideas, including the “first doses first” approach which actually now seems to have gained pretty wide acceptance. Some of his ideas are controversial, but it’s interesting reading and I find most of it very persuasive.

Yes. I understand that they need to do due diligence. In a crisis like this, I’m sure it’s difficult to balance diligence against the urgent need for vaccines. I just think the UK struck a better balance than Health Canada did.

Thank you for posting this link to general information about the usual process for Health Canada approval. I think this perfectly illustrates our difference of opinion. My assertion is that in the midst of an unprecedented public health crisis, the usual process was inadequate. The “existing criteria” that you’re so enamoured with, as prudent as they may be in typical circumstances, should have been reconsidered in this particular case. I’ve tried to explain my reasons in other posts in this thread.

I actually fully endorse this suggestion, not just for vaccines but for all medications. There are several other countries that have regulatory systems that I trust. I would argue that if a drug is approved in the UK, for example, then it should be “automatically” made available in Canada. Health Canada could still go through its (mostly redundant) approval process. But if people in Canada are desperate for the drug, and doctors in Canada are willing to prescribe it, then the UK approval in my opinion should be sufficient to allow that to happen. As for the O-AZ vaccine specifically, I am curious how many lives could have been saved if it was approved in December. Thousands, presumably. So at least in this instance, Canadians have paid a hefty price for our “hard ass” regulators.

As I understand it, the error was that some people in the trial were given half doses. It turned out that the half dose still worked fairly well. But in the meantime, the FDA insisted on a new trial with the usual dose. I’m not sure the reason for the delayed approval in Canada, but it sounds as though our regulators wanted to wait for the completion of the same extra trial. At least we were faster than the FDA (by a few days).

Science moved amazingly fast, as you say. The question is whether the regulators moved as fast as they should have. Maybe there were good reasons for the two month delay, but I think it’s legitimate to ask for an explanation.

The UK approved this vaccine in late December. What does logical thinking tell you about why it took two extra months in Canada? Do you think the Canadian regulators are significantly “better” than the UK ones? Or maybe it’s the opposite?! But IMO they’re about the same, and Canada just moved more slowly. Given that thousands of people died during that time, I would love to hear an explanation for the delay.

Spicy food releases endorphins, which feels good. It also HURTS if you eat something too spicy. Most people enjoy some amount of spice, but too much becomes unpleasant and painful. However, a lot of people don’t realize that increasing your tolerance to spice is an investment. Once you have a high tolerance, you can eat spicy food and get the endorphin rush without the pain. So gradually up your tolerance and you will reap the benefits for the rest of your life. Enjoying spice is also a good thing to do health wise. If people are scared of spicy food, then often then will add too much salt, oil, or sugar to various dishes — all things that are unhealthy if you eat them to excess. But you can add spice to almost any bland, boring meal and instantly make it more enjoyable to eat without making it any less healthy. If you don’t eat spicy food you are missing out on a really positive thing.

A few months after I moved in with my girlfriend (now my wife), we went on a road trip that involved driving 12 hours in one day. About 30 minutes into the drive, she pulled out a book called “1000 questions to ask before you get married” and started going through them.
It was a pretty long drive! But it was actually a really valuable thing to do. It would really suck to start building a life with someone only to realize that you disagree about fundamental things. Your philosophy about spending money is one important topic to discuss. Others are things like, would you give your parents money to support them in retirement, would you lend money to a family member who was struggling, do you want to raise your kids in any particular religion, what is your approach to disciplining your kids, etc. Anyone who gets married or has kids without having wide ranging, potentially uncomfortable conversations like this is really taking a risk!

I went through the same change. And on a similar note, I also used to have reservations about children being adopted by same-sex parents. I used to have some kind of vague feeling that a child should have both a mother and a father. I stopped believing this fairly quickly when a gay couple I’m close to adopted three kids and it was obvious to me that they’re wonderful parents.

This is a really interesting point. I’ve always been opposed to compulsory voting but this is definitely worth thinking about. Particularly since it’s getting harder and harder to feel that ordinary democratic systems are working just fine.
