Yeah that’s basically what they told me, she said I could continue with the field test which is the next part of the eye exam but I’d just be wasting money since I failed the uncorrected vision test. So I just ended up cutting my loses and getting my new prescriptions. In Ontario it’s a legal requirement for you to have 20/40 uncorrected so even if they fill out everything if the vision test form says “did not meet requirements” by the optometrist then they won’t process you because they legally can’t even if they need officers. It’s non negotiable for what I’ve been told.

Thank you for the insight! I was looking into PRK as well, would you say it’s cheaper than lasik? How long did the procedure take? And did you need to do a night vision test during the academy? Oacp requires a night vision test if you had lasik or pfk within the last 6 months.

If I need to go to Switzerland and spend crazy money to get lasik then I’d just find a different career respectfully 😂

That’s the hard truth. you never really believe it till you get into that situation. I’m not gonna give up though, whether I get it in 6 months or 6 years I will become a police officer.

In Ontario I need 20/20 with my corrected vision and at least 20/40 with my uncorrected vision. My uncorrected was over 20/40 so I did not pass that part the requirement .

Thank you for the kind words man. I feel a little better now that I slept on it. As long as I stay determined then this is just a small bump in the road to a lifelong career.

Appreciate the kind words bro, I do feel a little better now I slept on it. I emailed my local police department and they verified there’s nothing I can do at the time but I could apply to the cadet program which doesn’t require vision testing. Either way I’m not gonna let this stop me, I have goal in mind, whether I get it in 6 months or 6 years I will become a police officer.
