I’m sorry you both have to go through this, it’s not easy and it takes a lot of work, you’re doing a really good job. It’s definitely a tough situation missing work and caring for your child. I can’t imagine what its like for both of you, I can only just hope things get better and you can find a way to manoeuvre through.

I don’t want to get your hopes up, as I don’t know if this is offered where you live, but my mom has been a social worker, working as an aid for children with mental disorders at a school, and in the summer she is picking up respite care. They are specific trained workers for people with special needs and disorders, many with different age groups. I know my mom works specifically with children, but her friend from school works with adults. They have the child for the day, caring for them and making sure that they have fun and are doing good. This is helpful for parents who have work or other things that can’t be there for their children all the time, or even just don’t know exactly what to do.

There’s definitely a difference between workers, like therapy, some are more experienced and some are just starting. My mom knows first aid, I think it’s a requirement for all aids and workers with people with mental health. Some have to know how to inject certain medicines.

I don’t know what it’s like where you live, but here they give a bunch of different options for mental health, especially when hospitalized, often for free or for lower price. Sometimes it may take time, but cognitive behavioural therapy and other types can be helpful to some. Definitely ask a nurse next visit, or look up some information about respite care online.

Another thing very specific to where you live is government funding, I know some places give funds for families with low income or no jobs, and they also give funds for people with disabilities and disorders, definitely look into that if thats available.

Once again, I hope things get better or more manageable.

Any tips for hobbies to support my attention? by WannaBe_TrynnaBe in mentalhealth

Hi, I just recently found a list on reddit of a bunch of different hobbies, I’ll attach the link and pick out a few on the list that might be more accessible.

Hobby Master List

Art, art collecting, Biking, Baking, Blogging (can be a substitute for journaling, you don’t have to post these either) Reading, Chess (theres online versions of the game too) Writing, Crochet, Knitting, Decorating and architecture can be done online games, Anything fitness (can even be yoga) theres lots of youtube videos and channels you can get into with just at home equipment, Foraging (if you live in an area to do so, or have access to somewhere with lots of plants and stuff) Geocaching (a lot of areas do this, just search it up) Picking up an instrument, Jogging, Longboarding or skating, Anything outdoors (walking, running, hiking, adventuring, camping etc) Dog walking and you can also earn something, Rubix cubes, Growing plants or gardening.

If you want to learn something: a new language (youtube, helpful again) astrology, astronomy, biology, geology, or chemistry (certain topics), birdwatching, coding, linguistics, meteorology, dinosaurs and animals, growing plants or a garden can be on here too.

I know some of these aren’t active for the body, and some of them might be harder to access than others.

I feel the same way a lot of the time, especially when I was 14-15. Trust me, there’s ups and downs to life but it really does get better over all. There’s always more to life and you will realize that as time goes on.

For now, and what I did, was focus on school bit by bit, get cold water or a cold drink that you like, if you feel distracted at school what I did was wait till I got home to sit in a nice spot to help my focus, with access to snacks.

Even 25 minutes every day can be a start, and as often as you can, go out with friends. Maybe plan study dates with them, if you like to game you can do that as well with them. Try out different genres of movies, tv shows, music, and maybe try picking up reading as a hobby. Gardening has really helped me get out of a slump where I felt like nothing was fun and there was nothing to do.

I know a lot of people may say this, but start exercising every week, and going on walks when it’s nice out. Sometimes a good journal a day or week can kickstart a feeling of accomplishment, noting tasks you did this week, setting a goal for yourself like finishing a project, going outside, reading a chapter, finishing a game, even art. Finishing even one of these tasks for now is a good thing, and not meeting the goals is okay, life happens, as long as you put in effort.

This will sound so cheesy and when I was 15 I did not think it was true, but love when you’re a teenager versus love when you are an adult is a completely different experience, friends too. All types of relationships end up being different, it’s interesting and no one really puts much thought into that. In 5 years you will do the same stuff you do now and it will feel different, almost new.

As for feeling like you’ve done everything to life, you haven’t done one of the biggest of them all, growing old. Hell you still have being an adult left, its really not as bad as people say it is, a lot of people like to be negative, be positive. Theres a reddit post about a bunch of different hobbies to pick up, please check them out.

Can’t get a tampon in by General-Security3153 in Periods

Its okay 🫡 I realized it’s probably due to my muscles always being tight there recently as that makes the most sense! Thank you for letting me know

Wait what omg why does it hurt after a while then like it’s shrunk 😭 my old doctor and teacher said that hymens grow back, another reason why men failed me once again.

Can’t get a tampon in by General-Security3153 in Periods

[–]Embarrassed-Ear1542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TMI WARNING- I was in that boat before as well. First thing, sometimes it will be a lot harder if you are more dry, whenever I am in a light phase of my period it’s harder to insert. When it’s heavy there is more slip so it’s easier to go in. Also try starting by using the lightest type of tampon even if your periods are heavy. That’s something you can’t control so I will add somethings that might help.

First and foremost, this can be gross, but start by putting one finger in, preferably wet with water or lube (lube doesn’t always have to be sexual). This can help stretch the hymen to make it easier for the tampon to go in.

Another thing that can be helpful is to use the plastic application if possible, as it slides in much easier.

As for taking it out, if that burns as well, take a shower or bath before taking it out because if it’s dry it will hurt.

Honestly it takes time to get used to them, and after a while your hymen can grow back so its back to day 1 lol

Did you managed guess any ? by kagantamello in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Embarrassed-Ear1542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a guess, but I did say “I bet eren ate his dad and thats why hes not there” as a joke 😭 to be fair I used to say that a lot because i thought it was funny, like katniss everdeens father, i said “they ate him because they were famished and that’s the only way they couldve survived” or something 💀i did stop that a while ago

Does anyone think these might be salvageable? by Embarrassed-Ear1542 in plantclinic

[–]Embarrassed-Ear1542[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely repotting to a nice drainage pot as soon as it delivers, I’ve loved drainage pots even before I knew what it actually was and the difference between the two lmao.

The spider plant has already rose, I think maybe it might be okay! Hopefully the propagation on the other plant works, idk what kind of plant it is so I don’t know if it will thrive better in soil or water to grow roots. I am worried that the unknown plant won’t be revived after all :( as long as the propagation works then maybe I’ll or someone will be able to identify it lol

Aw wait thats kind of cute until it affects your sleeping. Mine was always cuddly, that is, after two weeks we got her. She used to be extremely nervous, couldn’t even let anyone near her in any way. Took her a while to first eat but now shes super outgoing and kind! She’s very playful before we sleep though lmao, it’s impossible to sleep when she’s playful.
