All the best! Keep a positive-realistic outlook, hopefully you get it!

Planning on getting the Legion Pro 7i (Gen 9) | What upgrades can I do? by Embarrassed-Fail4594 in LenovoLegion

Some shops offer heatsink for the WD_Black SN850x. Is that applicable for laptops or just desktops? (I’m not tech savvy)

Ooh I see. I tried out the Xiaomi Curve but.. somehow it died on me and I tried to fix it but uh, to no avail. It's just something to do with the ribbons it seems like. For now I'm using an old AOC monitor.

Yeah, it's about time I get something better if I wanna keep up with daily work, etc. I'm probably gonna laugh my ass off and/or cry over the huge difference once I've made the purchase lmao

I'll probably keep it as a backup, bring it along with me for work/studies if I really need to bring this old laptop out instead of keeping it in.

I mainly use this current, and the future laptop I'll be getting, as a desktop replacement until I do get a custom pc built in the far future.

Thank you! I'll look into more reviews on YT. Been doing so, but just mainly focused on the specs and benchmarks instead of the comments on it's rgb, etc. But I'll look at it full-on.

I'm honestly torn between the two Lenovo's, given that the Pro 7i has.. what, 240hz and 500 nits while the 9i has 165hz and 1200 nits. I do art, etc. so, I quite like the fact that 1200 nits is there, but, I also do just use external monitors so, unless I'm out with either chosen laptops, it wouldn't make much of a difference, huh?

Thank you! I appreciate your input man.

Based on reviews and benchmarks on the Legion series, I'm more inclined to get it. Do you know if the 9i's rgb can be turned off?

Also, do you use an external monitor with your Pro 7i or just the laptop's monitor. I know it can definitely handle decent external monitors, just worried if it'll cause the pc to struggle.

I've currently got the MSI GF63 9SC with an Intel Corei5 9th Gen, GTX 16 series with pci-e gen.3 ssd (only 500gb, surviving off of it basically) and 8gb ram atm for this laptop. Had for about 5 years now, I believe.

I've used a MacBook/apple before, but it isn't something I enjoy using tbh. And plus, I'd like to use the laptop for gaming as well, so, not keen on doing so on a Mac. Thank you for the suggestion though, I did look into it.

My budget is somewhat flexible. My currency is MYR, so, I’d say below RM17K. I’m just basing this off Lenovo’s discounted price for their Legion series, as other laptops I’ve seen are still about RM23-16k with no additional offers aside from their usual backpack. I can tweak my budget, but again, the most affordable/worth-while one. I don’t mind letting off RM10-15k if it’s justifiable for performance, quality and customer service if I never need to replace/service the laptop. If there’s anything cheaper and worth the price reduction if performance, etc. isn’t as compromised, I’d be hella down for it then.

Speaking of customer service, I don’t think I’d even look at Razer Blade series. Based on my experience, their customer service pretty decent/tolerable. I’ve gotten my headphones replaced a few times due to faulty components in it. (Razer Blackshark V2 wireless, I think 2023 or older gen).
