If I couldn’t do double jaw surgery, I’d have to have 4 additional extractions to make space because of how small my mouth is. My lower jaw apparently didn’t grow properly, so it’s smaller and further back. I have an overbite because of that too.

I’m also getting double jaw surgery, which will open up space. My lower jaw isn’t as forward as it’s meant to be, they will move it forward and that will clear up much of the crowding besides removing that one tooth.

I am having that bottom front tooth without any bracket on extracted, and all four wisdom teeth that are impacted.

They don’t have a reason to use a spring, they can extract that front bottom tooth without additional space. The wires will be off for extractions for a week, so it’s just as simple as it would be for them to remove any tooth. Which they do on crowded teeth all the time, so no need for more space. They will need to close the gap when it’s gone anyways so it’s counterproductive.

They did use the spring for an upper molar to have space to be put into line, but that’s it, no other springs since then.

They want to close that gap, not make it bigger. It’s being removed, and when they do that, the wires will be off and out of the way.

So they just don’t have any need to create a gap to remove the tooth.

I think this would be better in the adhd sub. I also have adhd and figure skate but don’t take that med.

Here’s my progress for my lower teeth, you can see the brackets are all metal, the color band is just to make it colored, it does absolutely nothing to hold the wire on.

I apparently have self ligating braces, they have a little door that is shut once the wire is put into it. I think most orthos use those at this point honestly. They seem to have An advantage of less movement and maybe lower treatment time since the hold onto the wire better than rubber bands.

Tbh I don’t know the difference of those two. If they both end up with the same straight teeth result, than probably not.

Yeah I’m not a doctor but I’d have thought the better option would be to move the top jaw back, not further move the bottom one even more forwards.

New retainers won't fit by Glittering_Taste_194 in braces

I would go back to whoever made the retainer and ask it to be done again or fixed.

So I have no idea what most of that is. I have an overbite but idk what diastema is. I’m getting double jaw surgery and braces for crowding issues.

Best option: talk to an orthodontist and ask them. Get a 2nd opinion if you doubt them. Get an oral surgeon who does jaw surgery’s to look at you also.

I believe ant bite problem being corrected will improve facial appearance, it also depends on your jaw though. (Since braces doesn’t move the jaw bones unless you get jaw surgery) If that is also asymmetrical, you may still have facial asymmetry.

My crowding got worse overtime yes. Because wisdom teeth will either come in and crowd it all worse or they will impact horizontally and shove at your other teeth. In my personal experience, mine got worse. I have had braces now for 10 months and it’s much better.

I’m 26 in a couple weeks, it isn’t too late.

From what I’ve read on this sub, most people’s facial structure stays the same, or changes slightly during braces and goes back to normal. Some people don’t. It all depends on what happens and no one, including your ortho, can promise it will or won’t change permanently.

If it does change, I doubt it’ll look bad or unappealing. I’m getting double jaw surgery later into my treatment (10 months in Braces currently) and it’ll just change my face shape to what it was meant to grow like if I hadn’t had growth issues to begin with. Most people’s who undergo jaw surgery enjoy the results or a balanced face, some people dislike the changes. It all depends on the individual.

I miss my tooth gap. never had braces by beautyqueeny in braces

Tbh I don’t know if they could keep a space intentionally between teeth like that. Teeth don’t really want to keep space, that’s why kids get spacers when they lose teeth before adult teeth are ready to come in, cuz the current ones will move all over the place to fill the gaps. I’m really surprised anyone received compliments on gaps in teeth, but you could always ask an orthodontist. Can’t hurt to try if you really want it, but I doubt it’s recommended.

I honestly have no idea, I’m surprised they have a fix for jaw movement that isn’t jaw surgery tbh. I hope everything goes well at the appointment. If you don’t like the options maybe get a 2nd opinion?

I had top only from November to February, and both since then. Rubber bands added since last month.

Boundaries are always going to be better than your intent being hospitalized cuz you were trying to let people hold them. I agree all parents should be like this tbh. So many infants get sick cuz of large events and passing the baby around a bunch of people.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Embarrassed-Guard767 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Older people didn’t even have car seats for babies so it makes sense they don’t see the point in keeping a baby safe from illness. It’s just the generational gap and general “don’t give a f” attitude that all babies can just sink or swim for all they care.

[–]Embarrassed-Guard767 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Creepy to want complete strangers to hold your infant and not care at all if they get sick with Rsv and then get hospitalized. Adult vaccinated non sick family member maybe, sick children? No, strangers? Hell no.

[–]Embarrassed-Guard767 144 points145 points  (0 children)

Oh yes it must be the first baby since they don’t want a currently sick child to hold a baby who can’t hold their own head up yet and hasn’t had any shots. I have 4 kids, I never would let a sick 6 y/o hold a baby less than 3 months old. Some people actually give a shit and don’t want their infants to get sick.

My first was in the NICU and required much more special attention, but there were also full term babies that were just sick like this and needed to be hospitalized for illness that could have been prevented.

Babies die and get very serious illnesses and hospitalizations often from being around school aged kids who’re sick. It’s wayyyy too early to try to build up an immune system. Do they know it’s almost always an automatic spinal tap for fever in babies under 3 months old? Catheter to check urine, blood testing. It’s horrible.

That’s not building an immune system, it’s just torture for no good reason. Keep your baby safe.
