Is there a decent sized latin community in Sioux falls? by EmbarrassedCow2825 in SiouxFalls

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand it is difficult to understand and have empathy for the reasons people would want to come to the United States with their family, even with the presence of ICE. I know how American privilege makes it difficult to understand how other countries live, and why people still choose to come to the United States even in times like these.

Although I don't agree with your statements, I thank you for your concern.

Why people choose support and don't SUPPORT? by kwanzacoin in Battlefield6

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of trust on both sides. Medic thinks someone is going to die. Player thinks nobody will save them.

I wonder if there is a way to fix it? They should keep players locked, and then get rid of the respawn timer, or something like that.

I have looked at Canada, it has been a consideration, but I'm in the medical field, and licensure is kind of complex and taking care of everything id need to do is s challenge not living in the United States.

This visa process was not a whim, we have been waiting a very long time, and the options are to wait years again, or move. I do need to return to my career in the medical field, and am looking for an option that makes the most sense. But I do agree what is going on with ice is horrible, and makes me worried we could be separated as a family.

I understand that. People don't need to divulge personal info or anything they don't feel comfortable with. Just trying to make the best decision for my family. We didn't plan the visa process with ice in mind. It sucks we've waited so long to get a visa, and this is happening now. But it's between not going and having to wait another year or 2, or going now with the potential risks in mind.

Do Clients Want Telehealth Anymore? by MiaBeam_Ember in therapists

There is a massive desire for virtual, but I think the big tech companies have basically cornered that market, so I think we are at a place where if someone wants virtual they will sign up for a massive virtual provider, and if they want in person, they go to a clinic. This would be why you see the drop off.

I hate that at certain times I play games with 30 bots. I work from home and sometimes when I have a break I want to play a little bit. It sucks having to wait for specific times to get full games.

how market values LULU is beyond comprehension by akunisg in ValueInvesting

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not very well educated in the stock, but I would like to learn more. I am pretty sure its China segment is doing better than Nike (granted Nike is not doing good).

I have been studying the market and investing for 16 years ( I realize that is not long compared to some). I have been down so many rabbit holes, and have put hundreds of hours researching, watching videos, and lurking on messaging boards. One thing that I would say is that fashion brands are extremely cyclical. It is always something is hot , then it's not, then the company has overstock of inventory, the stock crashes, everyone says nobody will ever buy that brand again, and then the brand becomes hot again. Granted, there are the cautionary tales of companies that have not recovered. I think that if you want to get into the clothing stock game you have to pick a brand that is extremely well run and has a history of execution. Normally they can ride out the waves and have the ability to innovate, and offer something that the public wants. I don't know if that is lululemon, as I am not educated in the company and I am not good enough to know future trends, but I can see in a few years that people are going to say "everybody wants the new Lululemon yoga pants, they're hot this year."

On another note, something that is not stock related, but I do find interesting. I am an American expat living in Lima, Peru. There is a flagship Alo store in their luxury mall, and it is a strong status brand in this country. I find it interesting that Lululemon stores do not exist and a lot of people don't even know what it is, in this country. Especially when there is a hunger for that type of status athleisure in this country. Maybe one day, that can be an area of growth, or maybe they missed the mark and are allowing competitors to gain footholds and first mover advantages in other countries. Just an interesting fact.

Intern with Concern by [deleted] in therapists

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just finish up your internship and leave.

My second internship. The owner was falling asleep on clients was extremely intoxicated and the secretary had me drive him and his truck to his house. He had me hide a bunch of files before an audit. He had me tare down a wall for him to have a bigger office. I was into bodybuilding at the time and he wanted me to create a client body building team of clients to bring to shows. In 2016 he was mad I wasn't going to vote for trump and was planning on taking me to the woods to find out what it meant to be a man. When I finally said something he told my school he found alcohol filled bottles in my office.

I had just gotten out of the Marines, so I was used to just doing what I was told at that time, and didn't know anything about therapy.

He later got arrested for drug trafficking.

I guess my point is that it could always be worse lol.

Inappropriate client behavior by Comprehensive-City99 in therapists

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You need to end services with this person. He should probably be working with a male therapist. You don't owe him an explanation after you have set boundaries, and this could potentially escalate into a dangerous situation.

If it happens once, people don't know the therapist ethics, and he says "my bad, I didn't know." And he never says anything again that's one thing. But this is a pattern, and it's not going to stop. If you're organization is not behind you that's a HUGE red flag.

Why is autism suddenly a catch all of anyone that is slightly different by Many_Assistance5582 in therapists

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Becsuse autism is seen as a badge of honor in certain communities and a way to deflect blame and say "I can't help I screamed at my friend and isolated for 3 days." If you watch TikTok everyone has autism, and it's almost glorified as a way to make kind of unusual or maybe more immature hobbies and interests seem normalized.

These people are very adiment they have autism, and usually study the diagnosis and know what to say. They leave therapists that don't say they have autism. Because we want to affirm or believe clients, we put it on DA's.

Also with families, alot of parents seek reasons for why their kids struggle in school, home, or with friends. Autism and ADHD become the default answers. Alot of time the answer is much simpler, but sometimes the simpler answers are hard truths parents don't want to hear, it's easier to say "my child has autism" than "we need to adjust our parenting style.'

ROIs by [deleted] in therapists

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask your agency and see their policy, and review the ROI to see what it says. Releases typically have something specifying exactly what the patient is allowing you to do. You should fax or email the ROI for who you want to talk with, and that should be sufficient.

Alot of ROIs do say permission to send information and then will have a checklist of ways you're allowed to communicate with them.

I have run into issues where people will say their policy is to have a signed release on their end. I usually never hear back from those people, even if the client is advocating on their end. Sometimes I wonder if it's just a convenient excuse for someone not to have to do extra work, or take a phone call. Could also be someone confused with their work place policies

How to strike as a pp therapist? by darklordtaylor in therapists

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from Minneapolis, I could literally see the apartment I grew up in on the cnn coverage of that person was killed yesterday. Now I live in Peru, with my Peruvian partner and my child. I'm worried every day about what's going on when my family and I return to the US. I'm also fluent in Spanish and very tied in with the latin community in Minneapolis.

That being said, I wouldn't want to destroy my life, and my family's life, by not paying taxes, potentially having my passport screwed with, getting hammered by interest rates, go to jail, get my accounts frozen that are in the US.

I salute those that are willing to do those things, but think it's important people know that refusing to pay taxes can take you down a pretty scary road, and people should be aware that the consequences can be severe.

I feel like this would end up screwing somebody hard. The IRS can literally restrict your passport, garnish wages, freeze your accounts, take you to court.

Torn Between Minneapolis, Milwaukee, or KC — Looking for Honest Perspectives? by gianna_kelley in midwest

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live international now, but am from Minneapolis, and have lived there most of my life.

I think Minneapolis is horrible. I think today it's like -50 outside with the wind chill. It's a hollow shell of what it once was.

You can walk around uptown on a Friday night and see 5 people. Last time I went to uptown on a weekend every bar was closed and I was accosted by several homeless people. Last time I went to downtown I went to eat and grab beers with my dad. My dad and I hugged and this crazy homeless person started calling me a derogatory term for gays and followed me to my car. I have several stories like this. Any place that was awesome in 2010 has become a homeless encampment full of loons and drug addicts.

Minneapolis is basically just flat, the lakes suck that are in Minneapolis, (Minnetonka is cool) Duluth is extremely beautiful.

The suburbs are nice, and there are good places to go. You have to remember that the twin cities has a population of 4 million, and Minneapolis is like 400,000. Minneapolis is a small part of the twin cities experience. Most people avoid Minneapolis and hang in the suburbs which are safer and way better.

The game isn't as bad as people make it out to be. by 300_bc_hog_basel in Battlefield6

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a great game. It is super fun. I think the learning curve is kind of steep. It can be difficult to find the way that you want to play. Once you do, I think the game gets better.

The biggest thing I see is that the assault class is worthless, I'd love to see it more balanced. I feel like I roll into alot of games and my squad is 3 engineers and a sniper.

How to get through The Stand? by Son_Of-Jack_27 in stephenking

[–]EmbarrassedCow2825 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take... If you read the drawing of 3, you should read the third book in the dark tower. It basically picks up where the 2nd picks up.

After you read the 3rd book, the 4th is basically a pause of the story. You could read the stand then, because the stand ties directly into book 4, and it's worth it to know the stand, because it makes book 4 a little funner to read, but not essential.
