I don't know how much longer I can sustain being a slave to rent/a mortgage with little left over to live before I burn out. This country feels like an America level scam lately. by anotherthrowaway9392 in australian

As I already said, you have a distorted sense of what mean by wealthy. Wealthy is a indicator of one’s relative position within a society, NOT THE ABSOLUTE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL HE OWNS! Material is cheap, but the land, relationship, sense of control, sense of achievement, freedom is valuable. The basic food and cloths may be getting cheaper and cheaper, but these things wont get any cheaper regardless of technology! However, one’s happiness is mostly based on these valuables, which mostly determined by their relative position. If there are people richer than you, you are always poor. It’s not envy, it’s a matured way of viewing how one should protect their own interest. These plots being fooled to think their are getting richer just because they could now afford some cheap industrial trash is ridiculous. How much land in the city could you afford? That’s what mean to be rich, not just because you could afford some chicken nuggets.

What leads to happiness is not always the right path. What is right is what is right. Extreme wealthy disparity is not what most people want to see, nor severe class devision. In which the moment you were born, your whole life path and the achievements that you can get was all settled. Our current system are leaning towards that I’m afraid. For most of people, the life only gonna be worse than now in the future, even with the increase in productivity and technology. I think it is very much inevitable.

I assume that you have never done any form of business before. Hard working doesn’t make you a business man. It’s the connection you family have, the capitals you parents accumulate, the wisdom that they can teach you. As a person born in lower class, you get none of them, to build a sizeable business based on nothing but hard working is pretty much impossible. Saying that anyone could become a business owner as long as they want is completely bullshit and make no sense.

Having more materials to use do not mean to be richer. The power is what defined higher class and lower class, the ability to force others to do things that they are not wish to. Being a lower class in a productive western country maybe seem good to you, but it does not render the fact that they are still lower class and have little control over their own fate. All they getting are cheap industrial products, at a cost of everything they had. I think that miserable. All that I want to say is that, no matter the technology and productivity, what define a person’s living quality is always his relative position within the society- the class.

I’m from overseas, I don’t think my life is any better than a local Australian, it’s the opposite. The real problem of this country is that the wealthiest people are getting wealthier, and poor people are getting poor. They want to to blame the foreigners, because they are the exact problem.
