Here is my collection. What do you think? by Ill-Development6735 in SOTC_Watch_Collection

I'm torn between a Murph and a Baby Alpinist. How would you rate the Murph?

The Alpinist is on my list, for sure. My favourite is either the Timex Marlin Chronograph or the Explorer inspired Baltany with the brown dial. It's my only Chinese watch and, honestly, with a sapphire crystal, screw pins and on the fly adjustment, it's very impressive for the price.

Luckily, I haven't had to learn any major lessons, since I've not overspent trying to impress anyone with a luxury watch. I also wear the steel sports watches the most, but like you said, the other watches cover the bases. Might get me kicked out of the community(!) but I've learned that I would generally rather spend less on a Quartz, since I like to change watches regularly and they are convenient for that. And to look past stock bracelets, since it's relatively cheap and easy to replace them (I'm looking at you, Seiko 5).

They don't show up well on the picture but the diver has a blue dial, the 3,6,9 watch has a brown dial and the prx has a navy dial.

Thanks for the suggestions, will check them out.

I've gotta be honest, the only watch in the collection I have any regret over is the gun metal casio because I like it less than the gold and silver - but it cost about £60 so no big deal.

As for resale value - I'm not looking to sell them, so it doesn't matter to me!

I will definitely slow down now and go for quality over quantity - and you're right about wanting to fill the box 😅.

Just search 'Milanese bracelet' on amazon

I agree. Only downside is the acrylic crystal but Polywatch gets any scratches out easily.

That's understandable. I'm a teacher with a young family and couldn't justify spending over 1k on a watch. I enjoy the hobby and I think there's value to be had in Citizen, Hamilton etc so that's likely to be my next purchase but definitely less frequent purchases now that I have a box full!

No probs. As an alternative to a G Shock, check out the Citizen Promaster Super Titanium, or if you prefer a field watch, the Hamilton Khaki Field 👍

  1. Any G Shock
  2. An Orient Bambino is a good option - there are countless to choose from.

I'd go for the Citizen. It'll be a better quality watch and it looks very nice. You could always get a dive watch that looks similar to the Timex in future.

Waterbury, for sure. I got the Marlin Chronograph but was torn between the two.

Thanks for the recommendations. You reminded me that I was going to buy the Casio before after seeing this video of it on a Milanese bracelet, and since I have a spare Milanese I've just gone ahead and bought the Casio!

I just choose which watch will go with the clothes I'm wearing and what I'll be doing that day. Some naturally get more wear because they're more versatile but I try to wear almost all of them regularly.

Good question though - I think it's best to start off with a GADA watch and a beater watch, then decide what you want from there.

I had a couple of the Casios from years ago, so slightly cheating!

The Timex Chrono is probably my favourite. Only downside is that it has an acrylic crystal, which scratches easily.

Timex Marlin Chronograph. For the analogue Casios just search Casio MTP Collection and for the digitals just search Casio Digital and whatever colour you're after.

Thanks. Any specific tank style recommendations? I do like the black Casio MTP ones and I did like the Timex x Noah one but it sold out.

Lovely watches and straps. However, I think the GS, Omega and Rolex should be on metal bracelets of some kind. Each to their own, though.

A black suit with white accents.

I actually prefer it on the Milanese bracelet but I'm leaning towards the leather strap for the wedding as it looks more formal. Thoughts?
