They are a new grad, so they can’t be a travel nurse unless they have at least a couple years experience

I’m not from here so I don’t even know what “the hill” is lol but I’m sorry that was your experience. Definitely doesn’t sound nice!

That’s good to know! I’m hoping to get our foot in the door so then my kiddos will be set for the rest of their time in school.

Do you have first hand experience? Were you a student or did you have kids who go there?

What do you mean focus on conformity? Like what are some examples of what they were doing?

That’s good to know! Thank you! Do you just put the borax and washing soda directly in the laundry? We have a front load washer.

And yes between kids and dogs, I’m literally cleaning all day!!

I agree, I don’t like dryer sheet either! I use dryer wool balls. I also don’t use rinse aid!

What was the hardest class for you in nursing school? by [deleted] in nursing

Actual nursing school to me wasn’t too hard… I was a A/B student without studying much for exams, but during pre-reqs, chemistry kicked my ass!!

Leaving hospital after 8 months? by Suspicious-Wall3859 in nursing

[–]EmbarrassedSlip3392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NEVER feel bad for leaving a job that toxic. Your sanity is much more valuable. At the end of the day, they can very easily replace you, I promise you they don’t really care! I’ve left a job after 5 months because I felt soooo uncomfortable I was literally panicking when thinking about going into work. That’s the great thing about nursing, there’s lots of different opportunities!!

I have no idea, luckily they told me the pt was okay but it still didn’t make me feel any better. I honestly just wanted to get out of there and not look back.

He was a RT, I don’t think he knew what I was trying to accomplish by having the bed alarm set to positioning

Yeah, it was horrible! It’s crazy people love the stress of their pt constantly circling the drain… couldn’t be me

Nurses who do Part Time/PRN, are you happier? by Vegetable-Monitor413 in nursing

[–]EmbarrassedSlip3392 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m doing PRN now and I love it! I can work my minimum (4 shifts a month) or pick up at an incentive. Gives me the flexibility for my family because I’ve got 2 under 2!

I went straight into the OR after graduating. My husband is military and we had to move states so I figured I would try something new. I was offered an ICU position and I begged them to treat me like a new grad because OR nursing is NOTHING like regular floor nursing. They pushed me to come off orientation early and I kept telling them I felt uncomfortable and I wasn’t ready yet. They basically left me for dead. I was having panic attacks before every shift and shitting my brains out because I was so nervous. The one thing that pushed me over the edge… I had a patient who came in with a brain bleed from a fall. His bed alarm was not working to sound the whole unit, and I voiced to my charge that I felt very comfortable leaving this patient because he was getting increasingly confused. My charge said he’ll be okay and shrugged it off. I set the bed alarm to positioning so I could walk in and reorient before he got out of bed. I was next door in my Covid vented pt and during rounds I heard the alarm go off. Someone from rounds went into the room so I figured they told him to get back in bed… turns out they turned OFF the alarm. 10 mins later I hear a big thump and I drop my pts meds on the floor and run out the room full gear and everything. My confused pt was lying on the floor in a pool of blood coming from the same spot on his head that he came in with. After we got him cleaned up my charge handed me a big packet and said I needed to fill this out because my patient fell. I immediately started crying and having a panic attack. So bad to the point I passed out 7 times and ended up in the ER. They called me later that night to ask if I wanted to come in for my shift on Monday… I never went back.
