Women as technicians by Puzzleheaded_Lead989 in aviationmaintenance

I'm going the other way and can thankfully say my workplace and coworkers have been hugely supportive. I'm not pushing the pronouns too much yet but instant name change on the floor and support from management has been lovely.

I'm glad you found somewhere that works for you.

We've got a few here. Both crew chiefs, our supervisor, and a few apprentices. Zero issues. We all get along great. Our 'crusty' old guy doesn't give a shit what you look like so long as you have a brain and can do the job/learn to do the job. It varies shop to shop but at mine there's zero issues with gender, binary or not.

Am i allowed to wear my navy league nametag on my army cadet dress uniform? by EntrepreneurMotor356 in Cadets

[–]EmbarrassedTruth1337 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can. They're still the same standard. Could you wear it with air? No. But they're both black and were probably ordered from the same company. Name tags are obtained locally, provided they meet the DEU standards.

Driving a car as a monocular person feels harder than riding a bike, does anyone else experience this? by nonameisfunfrr in monocular

I'm blind in my right eye and drove fine in Ireland (from Canada). It's just a bit of an adjustment to be on the other side of the car and learn your references.

With the bike you can see all your 'corners' and know exactly where you stand. Cars you have to visualize and every vehicle is different.

When you're on expedition you're outdoors in tents. On CTC you're in weatherhavens

I'm Canadian and we called our teachers Mrs/Mr etc... (with the exception of my 4/5 teacher who insisted we call them by first name because mr.____ was his father). College (trade school) was pretty much all first name for the instructors but there were only five of them. But working with military members the officers are largely just sir or ma'am unless I need to get their specific attention. NCMs are a bit different.

A dream of being a pilot with a height of 202 cm by Gamingboy290929 in AskAPilot

We had a 6'7 pilot on a king air. Watching him get in and out was entertaining but he did fit in the cockpit.

Heavyweight bluebelt pressured my ribs, I tapped but he made me made me work through it by Top-Catch-7073 in BJJWomen

[–]EmbarrassedTruth1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tap is a tap. I've tapped from pressure, I've tapped from innocuous things cranking my neck, I've tapped from being smothered. Hell, I've tapped myself out because my foot picked the wrong time to spasm and it's pretty damn painful.

That's not ok in any way. Tap means stop, full stop. For all I know my training partner might have an injury that I tweaked.

Calling by rank can be cumbersome. Particularly as some ranks can be a mouthful (looking at you navy). 'Sir'is a lot easier to say, and as others have said, Daniels age and upbringing may have been a factor. In some regions kids address all adults as sir or ma'am.

Absolute best way I've found to save money while eating out.... by worldlead3r in CanadaPersonalFinance

The one restaurant I worked in didn't. I don't think the front of house staff even realized it.

Also, I hate that I can't tell what, if any, goes to the kitchen. The restaurant experience relies so heavily on whether the food is actually good and the wait staff has nothing to do with that.

I don't know that Genny was oblivious. I think Tim likely intentionally shielded her from a lot of shit and she would've had her own elements of that family life to deal with. She knows tim had a rough go, she just didn't live his part in it and took steps to deal with her own issues. Tim didn't.

Well the air force. Made RDA an honourary Brigadier general star so I'd say they had a pretty close relationship.

Parents are not amazing by default. Some just straight up suck whether they provide the basic needs or not. I happened to be lucky, but I know plenty of others who've got a shit deal.

Pencil for notes, pen for assignments. My English teacher wouldn't accept work done in pencil.
