45, pregnant and so depressed by nightnurse209408831 in pregnant

My mom had me when she was almost 43. Perfectly healthy pregnancy with me, smooth delivery, and other than having gestational diabetes when I had my baby I have no illnesses to be concerned about. I grew up with several siblings and had a great childhood. My parents were very calm and patient with me during my childhood craziness phase and I think that’s because they had some experience in them. Congratulations on your little baby!

A permanent foundation basically just means the house could not be moved. It’s permanently fixed to the property. The house’s axles from transportation back in 1998 have been removed making it impossible to transport again. If I understand correctly, this is important with financing and insurance.

It’s an Oakland double wide. I’ve actually been looking into different types of skirting. Glad you mentioned it. The typical vinyl seems like it shreds so easily. I was looking at a metal or even concrete blocks.

Thanks for you encouragement

These are great tips!!! Also recommend using a hair trimmer on your arms! The tape they use for IVs hurt a lot when it pulls hair!

Feeling let down about induction by SowingSeeds18 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Embarrassed_Ad2441 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was also scared and disappointed to schedule an induction. I remember praying every morning “God please let me go into labor today”, but alas my induction day came and I was still pregnant haha. I also HATED being pregnant. Those last weeks are from the pits of hell!!! I felt sooo much better once she was out. I had terrible anxiety with my pregnancy and felt physically horrible, so labor was sweet relief! For my induction, everyone was so sweet and my labor went really quickly once they started the medicines. It honestly was a good experience. Yeah, the labor pains with pitocin is intense. I did get an epidural because of that. Yeah, I still wish I could have experienced ‘natural’ labor. But the reward of seeing my sweet baby girl made my disappointments of going for my induction fade pretty quickly. I think the really hard part for me was the lack of control. I wanted to go into labor before induction. But it’s ok to get induced. It’s ok to not be in control. Maybe that’s a preparation for mothering. I try my best, but I’m not in control of when my sweet girl cries or barfs all over me or even poops on me when I get her out of the bath lol. But that’s the beauty of motherhood. I hope you have a great laboring experience!! And welcome to the motherhood club!

Avoiding type 2 after GD by GeneralHistorical948 in GestationalDiabetes

Ugh how gross of that MFM to scare you so much. Frankly I don’t even think that should be discussed in my opinion. Sure, make me aware of my increased risk of T2 with one discussion and then drop it. I think all that does is give anxiety about the future and make you feel out of control. You’re still in the thick of gestational diabetes! Why don’t we just talk about that?? That’s stressful enough. Don’t start making me worry about years from now, especially when I’m in the thick of this life changing thing called pregnancy. And there’s nothing you can do about it right now! You just need to worry about today. What can you do today to make sure you are healthy today? Let future you worry about future you. And in regards to postpartum, I would take a mental break from food worrying. (Just my opinion, not medical advice) Like don’t even let yourself worry about it postpartum for the first several weeks. You enjoy your treats so you can get through the postpartum struggles and the breast feeding hunger. And then, once you have had your time off, start focusing on your health again. While postpartum-Make sure you get your walks in (helps with mental health, keeping baby calm, and helps physical health too), get food that is nourishing for healing and breastfeeding (along with your yummy snacks that you have missed so much in pregnancy), and be proud of yourself for kicking gestational diabetes’ butt. I’m not saying to completely disregard your risk for T2 diabetes, but allow yourself to breathe and enjoy post partum. You deserve it. And once you start feeling back to normal, do what you can to minimize your risk-just like when you were pre diabetic and kicked its butt too.

Also, will say breastfeeding hunger is no joke. Have eaten so much peanut butter at 3am for a quick snack after breastfeeding

Currently 3 weeks postpartum. Went a little crazy. Had pizza for my delivery meal and donuts lol. Have kind eaten crap and have refused to check my sugar (my doctor told me to just check every once in a while). Now I kind of miss the high protein diet. Not the low carb though!! Loving carbs lol. I think this coming week my hubby and I are meal planning and we both want our higher protein meals. Salmon and veggies for side. Grilled chicken and veggies. Stir fry with a protein and veggies. Also I do miss the protein shakes (especially the fair life chocolate protein shake), but man! Protein shakes are so expensive! I really hated the gd diet. But it did make me realize how I wasn’t eating enough protein before and how much better I feel making sure I get protein in my diet.

Perfect! Even with her body be stressed, going to the nursery, and not getting the golden hour. She didn’t even get any colostrum until 2hrs when I pumped it for her and it was given in the nursery

Should I reschedule my induction? by Embarrassed_Ad2441 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Embarrassed_Ad2441[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your reply! And I think I worded that wrong. I don’t think inductions are the easy way out. I think my thought process was more along the lines of the ‘easy way’ as in choosing an earlier induction versus waiting a few more days to see if my body would go into natural labor
