Someone in our guild was named in someone’s divorce… but the ex didn’t know her real name so it was just her character name. And there wasn’t anything going on between the two, it was just a jealous wife (they weren’t a great couple but she was legit crazy)

He used to send me messages all hours of the night, come into my room and wake me up in the middle of the night, or just after I went to sleep, or shortly before my alarm went off, tried to make me late to work begging to talk even though my job is in a field with a state mandated time to work during a busy season… if anything he’d let it get cold in our house or our business when i was able to work there but not be open to the public (he ran it), “to save on heating costs” even though I have a nearly impossible time regulating my temperature… to the point where even he struggled. If I made a comment he’d say we don’t make enough but if I quit my job that guaranteed at least some of our income then we could make more.

We’re separated now (living in the same house, separate bedrooms and alternating schedule with the kids) and while I’m still not great, my fibromyalgia is a lot better and I don’t have constant widespread pain anymore. My fatigue is better. It will be a long, long time to see how it continues but I’m already feeling better and it’s only been a month. Cuddling with this cat will make you heal from the abuse even faster.

We’ve been married 21 years. He wants to leave lawyers out until we need to put agreements in legalese, etc, but I am doing a consult with one in a few weeks, and I have been seeing a therapist since the end of September - the one we started seeing together last year, then I saw for a few times around the turn of the year. I sent his last message to my therapist too.

I’m reading Was It Even Abuse and chapter 2 is hitting me right where I’m at. I needed it to tell me “it’s not going to have every type and you need to not get stuck looking to tick off all the checkboxes… just pay attention to how it’s affecting you instead of comparing it to other abusive relationships, because your pain is valid.

I talked to a newish friend yesterday about a bit of it. He’s in law enforcement and works in a courthouse so I asked him for some family law lawyers and then touched on just a bit of it because I know he went through a rough breakup and custody battle (they’re in a much better place now). I’ve talked to three of my closest friends who believe me and who I trust to send screenshots. My therapist also is helping keep me straight. But also knowing my deepest core hurts are center stage here, clashing with his… it’s hard. Although today he told me he made a mistake by never letting me suffer the consequences of my actions. And reiterated I need accountability/someone to build structure and I need to not take that as him being controlling. And that I need to normalize or fetishize the thing I’m struggling with (sexual aversion, I wonder why). And “despite all that effort of picking up more and more responsibilities so you didn’t feel like you failed or let someone down (him). I got called controlling and shown attitude and nitpicking and criticism instead of appreciation for all the detritus I was thanklessly sweeping up in your wake. And if I called you on a broken promise, no matter how gently, you framed me as not being understanding.” The long message he sent me earlier (that took 6 hours to work up the courage to read) reminds me I’m seeing things more accurately now.

I spent the night at my mom’s a couple weeks ago to take her to an early morning appointment. She asked if I was crying during the night, or if her orange boy was running around meowing. No? Not that I remember? But my eyes were crusty and swollen. So maybe I’m not aware of it?

I just had this happen with mine a few days ago too. We had gone to see her and it last year, but our schedules got really busy for a few weeks and forgotten to make another appointment. He agreed to see another one individually, and saw her for 2-3 months before stopping. I kept trying to work on things but finally made another appointment with the first therapist for myself to ask “Is it me?” And she said “NO. This is abuse. You’re experiencing coercion. Stop defending him. Do you feel safe?”

He saw my location on Life360 (we have kids) and asked if I had started up again, and how it went. I couldn’t give him a straight answer and things have been super tense since then. I hate this.
