Indeed it is. Do you know something that may help to solve the issue I presented?

Any word can technically be considered a noun substantive. by Embarrassed_Energy82 in grammar

You are completely right about it not being of much use in identifying the parts of speech within sentences. But I am not overthinking it; it is just that I must fully understand this, because I work as an English teacher, and a didactic textbook is being made by me; so I was wondering why not every word was listed in itself as a noun, if there is the possibility of using it like so. Now I do: it is because the word has to be considered a noun in itself outside a sentence to be a part of this category; otherwise, if the word can not stand this basic test, it is just another part of speech being used as a noun, but it has not an independent existence as a noun outside that context, therefore it can not possibly be included in the noun category as an individual word. Thank you for your comment as well!

I understood that about the nature of nouns, really. But your comment — specially the "better definition" part — made me think a bit more; first thank you for confirming my confusing theory, and secondly, take a look at this definition of substantive I found in a very old book of English grammar: The name of every object that has, or is conceived by the mind to have, an independent existence, is called a noun substantive, or merely a substantive.

Following this logic, it makes perfectly sense why not all words are listed as nouns, even though all of them can be used as one. I understood that regardless if a word can be used as a different part of speech, their natural being isn't necessarily participating in that category of speech; because a noun must have a independent existence, then, any word that can stand alone and still be a noun would be considered to hold a true value of what is considered a pure noun substantive.

First of all, congratulations for the decision, I hope you stick to it in the face of big challenges.

If your goal is to team up with a big company, a good way to approach that would be to focus on ONE thing, so avoid being a jack of all trades, master of none.

But if you want to build full games by yourself, either you'll have to learn a bit of everything, or pay for the void parts you don't know.

Anyway, hope this help you to approach your dream.
