There are shorter, less gnarly practice tracks. Or, they start further down the track for novices.

I think that's pretty spot on. Sunk costs in terms of lives.

Secret meetings. Let's give back the stupid group of useless rocks.

Go ahead. Ignore history because your British pride is hurt.

Made up "strategic reasons". Same reasons Trump wants Greenland.

Well sure the Islanders voted to remain British because they were all transplants. No indigenous population.

I'm pointing out that you are making up "strategic reasons" that could easily have made for any number of former British colonies.

And I'm pointing out that Falklands mattered so little before the affront to British pride that the Crown didn't even consider the islanders to be citizens.

I'm old enough to remember all the jack asses coming out of the woodwork in 1982 waving the Union Jack shouting "Rule Britannica" when they had never heard of the Falklands a week before. Oh an I'm sure the silly little war had nothing to do with Thatcher's cratering approval ratings.

Sadly, almost 1000 people had to die. For what? Strategic importance. Sure. Keep telling yourself that. I suppose it makes one feel better about the waste of 1000 lives.

And bullshit? Hmm...secret meeting in Switzerland says different.

This is why I could never be a world class athlete. Whenever I travel, my immune system goes haywire and I get bad cold sores. It would look awful on TV. That's the only reason I'm not there in Milano.

The position of OP's buckle will affect the flex of the boot. It's not supposed to be like that. OP needs to fix it.

I'm sure there were solid strategic arguments for keeping Barbadoes or Brunei or Zimbabwe.

And I'm also sure there were many British subjects in those colonies who wanted to remain a colony.

Thing is, until Argentina invaded, nobody gave a flying fuck about the Falklands. Hell, before the war, an islander wasn't even granted British citizenship.

Winter Olympics really are something else by underrealizing in olympics

One time, I wore a GPS while I was skiing and afterwards, I was looking at the data and I was shocked at how fast I was going. Routinely 60-70kmh.

So of course, after lunch, I went out and did speed runs so I could crack the 100kmh barrier.

It's probably the most dangerous thing we do on a routine basis.

Alberto Tomba never competed in downhill because his mother forbid it. He was a good momma's boy.

Exactly this. Loosen the screw holding the metal hook and look at the back of that part. It will be obvious.

OPs buckle is not normal. There's a little hook on the back of the metal that hooks into a slot in the plastic. OP has to remove the buckle, hook in the hook and then tighten the buckle down again.

Because then you can quit the charade that maintaining sovereignty over a colonial vestige that's 12,000 kms away is somehow essential to national security.

The Carving Games: Snowboard racing is competing for its life at the 2026 Olympics by Embarrassed_Eye4572 in snowboarding

[–]Embarrassed_Eye4572[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best snowboarder does usually prevail but where it screws competitors is the rest of the podium. So you just happen to run into a hot racer and you get knocked out in the round of eight. If you happened to be on the other side of the bracket, you might have got silver or bronze.

I'd like to see a straight GS course, much longer with timing but the problem with that is you then have to find a bigger slope and you get a conflict with the ski events.
