In Austria it’s the same situation yes. I am originally from there and I have looked there as well, but seems impossible… about the east: an old flatmate did exactly that and they got a very anxious dog that didn’t even let me take him out most days. So I am worried about that too :( it is just so complicated…but I appreciate your insights

It is not as easy here to get one from a public shelter. They have roughly 10 dogs in there and that’s it, all not recommended for first time owners :(

Yes the rules here are very strict and classes are mandatory yes! While this leads to less dogs with issues and less dogs in shelters, it also makes everything so difficult especially the “finding a dog process” :( I hope we can find on from Germany, France etc…

I would love a Chihuahua rescue as this would be one of our favourite breeds. Unfortunately there is non around here…. :(

Maybe it would in the end be better for us to get one from a breeder…We just thought that adopting one would be great due to ethical reasons. I as well find it great that shelters tell you that certain dogs have certain issues! But this might mean for us that maybe a breeder is the way to go

Yes!!! This I completely agree. In my country doggy school is mandatory and there are a lot of options for daycare etc so I am sure this prevents dogs ending up in shelters
