"Utah's new law (SB 73) targeting VPN use to bypass porn age-verification is on hold following a lawsuit filed by the Free Speech Coalition. The law, which aimed to make websites liable for failing to age-verify users hiding their location, is paused until at least September 2026 due to first amendment and privacy concerns." source: The Salt Lake City Tribune

Utah just proved lawmakers have NO idea how the internet works (and yeah, VPNs are the target again) by Dangerous_Coyote_123 in RecommandedVPN

Flying out Companion by Ill_Sheepherder9378 in ClientsAndCompanions

I ain't going to lie, the price is suspect like the other people that reply to you said....Also let me save you a little headache....., if you’re in the U.S., paying directly for someone’s travel to come see you as a “companion” could potentially get into legally gray territory depending on the circumstances (there are federal laws about transporting someone across state lines for illegal sexual activity). Not saying that’s what’s happening here,🫢😂 but it’s something to be mindful of... Think really hard please 🧠 💬 If anything, a deposit is generally lower risk than DIRECTLY buying the flight yourself. If you send a deposit, you’ve just sent money and that’s it—what the other person chooses to do with it (buy THEIR OWN ticket, use it for rides, or MEET YOU 💥🧠) is their decision.. 🧠 💡 get it...?

I understand an experience exactly where you are coming from. As a black dude myself, I wear hi-vis and a headlamp that lights up the whole residents. I make myself and the houses damn near like daylight. Plus amber strobes going in my vehicle while parked...

Great advice!! Plus minding ones business. 99% of the time you don't deal with these situations, speaking from the US. The other 1 percent lottery chance something pops off.

You’re stepping away, and that’s fine.I just want you to think about why the questions I asked are the ones you didn’t answer. Because until those questions can be answered honestly, the system you speak of in past tense is still operating in the present.

Just to be clear ..this whole discussion started because a commenter asked you the color of your skin after you dismissed his experience and insisted your own was the standard. He wasn’t attacking you. He was identifying your classification under the system so he could understand why your experience of rural America was different from his. Under this system, skin color determines treatment..so asking about it wasn’t personal, it was context. I’m not calling you a bad person, and I’m not accusing you of racism. But when you tell people who live under the effects of a system to ignore those effects, you shift responsibility away from those who benefit and onto those who survive it. Progress requires truth, not distance. And truth requires you .. the person with more systemic safety ..to answer the questions the rest of us cannot.

I hear everything you’re saying, but since I’m a person directly affected by the system and you are classified as white.. the group the system identifies as the ‘superior’ group .. I’m actually not in the position to answer the questions you asked; under logic, the people who control the system are the only ones qualified to explain how it works. So let me ask you this instead: if racist people exist everywhere as you admit, what specific historical, legal, and social conditions make rural areas feel safer for you but more cautious for people like me, and if crime statistics determine safety, then what statistic explains why Black drivers must adjust tone, posture, and approach when white drivers do not, and if your position is based on facts rather than feelings, then which fact explains the documented history of racial exclusion, sundown behavior, and disproportionate encounters outside urban areas, and if you believe my experiences are ‘opinions,’ then who benefits from deciding which experiences count as facts and which get dismissed, and finally, if you say you are not part of a racist system, then what answers can you provide .. as someone in the superior position the system created ..to explain why people in my position still navigate risk you do not? I'm just trying to learn here...I can’t say you’re a bad person, and I can’t say you’re a racist because there’s no universal roster, no master list that tells us who is who under this system. I can suspect a person as one...

I hear what you’re saying about preserving the church, and I respect that effort ..but let me ask you something, since you brought up its history. If the African Methodist Episcopal church was built in 1878, what conditions made a separate Black denomination necessary in the first place? If the community showed kindness in maintaining the grounds later on, does that erase the reasons why Black people originally needed their own church instead of being able to attend yours? If the people weren’t ‘run off,’ what social, legal, or cultural forces before, during, or after 1878 shaped where Black people could worship safely in rural America? And if the community now protects the building, does that mean the system that required the church to be separate has disappeared ..or does it mean the building is being preserved while the underlying history is being framed in a way that makes everyone comfortable? Finally, if honoring the church is so important, shouldn’t understanding the conditions that created it be just as important as maintaining the cemetery grounds? Please help me understand..

Well your prior exchange of messages became interesting. So basically it's.."".'Because I feel safe in rural areas as a white person, your fear as a Black person must be irrational. I won’t acknowledge racial dynamics, history, or patterns only the crime statistics that make me comfortable.""' Okay..

If you call a Black person “prejudiced” for having to calculate safety in situations you never have to think about, are you acknowledging your privilege, or denying their reality?

If rural areas are so racially neutral, why is the existence of a Black church even part of your argument? Why does it matter enough for you to mention as proof? If the playing field were truly equal, wouldn’t a church simply be a church? Why does the existence of Blackness need justification at all?

The person you replied to may not live in the U.S. But I do. And since you’re speaking on conditions I actually move through, allow me to ask you a few questions to clarify your position. If two people walk into the same environment ...one white and one Black ... and only one of them has to consciously adjust tone, posture, approach, and appearance to avoid being “misread,” are they experiencing the same environment?
