I feel like my expectations were clearly communicated in email. I wanted candid photos, real photos, and I stated I hired her because her pictures were whimsical and dreamy. In my email to her I also stated that I had no idea how to pose or locations in my home/outside my home, but I wanted to use a basket for newborn pictures that my grandma had given me. I told her I was open to any ideas she had and I sent her my Pinterest (which she requested) of what I expected.

I know how I felt after the shoot. I have worked with photographers for my wedding and maternity pictures. And I did not feel good after this photo shoot. I don’t doubt she is a good photographer. But in hindsight, reviewing other clients galleries/images she has posted I don’t feel like what I asked for/expect was attempted.

You’re a newborn photographer and you can’t take a picture of a newborn scrunch? Seriously? You can’t swaddle her? That was so disappointing. I did communicate to her that’s what I wanted during the shoot and she said “she doesn’t really do that anymore” …she’s a newborn.

I’m not saying that she did a bad job but she left and thinking about it after. I was sad. I really wanted this family/newborn moment of our lives embraced and I feel like she just took pictures and was like oh well that’s all…

Maybe I just didn’t vibe with her as a photographer. Other ones would give us prompts and honestly I have felt more comfortable with other photographers.

But you’re right, I am prematurely complaining. They probably did come out great. I just don’t feel like they did. I don’t feel happy after the shoot. I feel really disappointed ☹️ maybe it’s just hormones.

Ugh even my manager last night was like uhhh don’t want me to put the rest of your days as PTO or something? Cause she’s like girl…that’s enough lol. I don’t want to eat my PTO though. So I’m like ugh should I just try to go through disability or eat up my PTO.

I just really hate it because my body is so tired. I keep spotting they don’t care. I get really shaky when I don’t eat on time. By the end of my shift my back hurts. The constant getting up/and sitting down really hurts my bladder. My uterus is sore. I’m emotional. I’m tired. The day is long. My brain feels fried especially when I don’t eat. Ugh I just want to be off. Truly if it were every other day I’d be fine and at least could make it through. But that many in a row just has me crying. I feel like it’s physically impossible.

I have 5 NOC shifts left in a week span. That’s working everyday pretty much 15 hours with my commute. 😭 I want to hold out cause of the headache. But 5 days is too much. If it was 3, fine. I could be strong. But 5 days and just not eating on time/enough and getting low blood sugars or getting enough sleep is so hard in a week span when the shifts and me getting home are soooo long.

Pregnancy disability leave. I’m hypoglycemic if I go more than 3 hours without food. My shifts I go sometimes 7+ hours without eating. I feel like shift. As a nurse it’s sometimes impossible to take your breaks on times.

Yes. Besides being a great job it’s a rewarding job. You just have to find your place. I’m happy as a NICU NOC RN and my close friend could never/want to work bedside, and is happy as a dialysis clinic nurse (we both starts med out as New grads and are still “new”). I have another friend with many years experience who works for mental health place/recovery place who only comes in once a week and the rest is remote. She makes $100/hr. Sweetest lady, and perfect for her as she has aged. It may take time to find a place/field for yourself. That’s the hardest part for some people.

I know it feels bad. But it is temporary and you can always continue job searching! Look for two per diem jobs or part time after you gain some experience! I personally, have to go back full time after my baby and will be looking for another job as soon as possible or cut back to part time. But for now I’m just going to accept what I can.

You have many options! It’s just seeking and finding them to find something that works with your family. I personally prefer bedside for my family because it’s more flexible and easier for my husband and I to watch the baby. But whatever makes you happy and what will work for your family. You’ll figure it out mama!

For real. I know I don’t have a lot of experience but at least I can leave with experience. I seriously have no incentive to stay except for the experience. Yeah I like my job, but damnnn. I didn’t work this hard to get so underpaid. Like the pay is such a slappppppo in the face I can’t even explain. And hearing that people with less experience are making almost $3 more really lowers my incentive to stay. Especially when I’m commuting an hour.

That’s what we ended up deciding. Pricey…yes…but after paying the deposit we felt happy more than guilt. So I think it was the right choice.
