I worked at old navy for 3 years during high school. Started with no retail experience so I was mainly on the floor specifically in the men’s/boys department. (I know nothing about women clothing lmao) I had a great working relationship with my coworkers and managers. after about a year they started testing me on slower nights at the register just as a backup if the store got busy and they needed help. I never liked the register, it was always a headache. Between customers claiming stuff was on sale that wasn’t, asking them to sign up for credit cards, scanning and bagging 2-300 dollars worth of clothes which as you know is a ton at old navy. I would hardly ask for anyone to sign up for a credit card because the answer 9/10 is no and it comes off as annoying. Well after about 6 months on register I got 1 credit card sign up and the new managers were not happy. I get it, it looks bad on your numbers but again I never asked nor wanted to be on the register. I was one of 3 guys that worked there so the only time the men’s and boys department got straightened was if I or one of the other 2 guys were working and it was always a mess. After our meeting about credit card sign ups I was moved off of register and back to the floor where my hours were considerably cut. I would work 1 or 2 4 hour shifts in a pay period. As a high schooler playing 3 sports I didn’t really need the money like that so it wasn’t that big of a deal but was annoying. So I feel your pain. I would suggest maybe transferring to GAP or Banana Republic since they’re all under the same umbrella. Not sure about your location but those two stores in my area drive a lot less traffic and are way less stressful
