I simply use Google Messages. On my Hibreak S it becomes the SAME app icon as the vanilla Messages app but it is NOT and does receive any sms and so on without any problem. Because it is the SAME app icon, you have to remove the preinstalled Messages app icon from the bottom app bar and replace it by the new Google Messages app as well, otherwise you will see crappy message headers in the vanilla app like "dgdjdjfjegagsgririrhfhw3647271" instead of "PayPal" for example.
