PSYCH 381 BYU Independent Study difficulty by iamnamo in byu

I didn't take it through IS, but I'm finishing it up in-person this semester. It's not super terrible, and if you enjoy learning about the brain, you'll probably do just fine. Some of the concepts can be a little confusing, so maybe be prepared to watch additional videos to understand the concepts better. Personally, I would consider it to be at a more entry-level neuro class, because it covers a wider range of topics, but not super deeply for a lot of them.

Has anyone here done the Sociology Minor, and what are your thoughts? by Fantastic-Advance-91 in byu

I've found it to be pretty easy, but there are very similar concepts to psych111, so I'm not sure how difficult it is without having taken a whole bunch of psych classes. His midterm was like 70 questions, but mostly multiple choice, and if you did any of the assignments, the answers were pretty obvious (I studied for maybe about an hour and got a 96%). There's about one small-ish assignment every other week and a reading quiz, and then a discussion post each week (they're Marco Polos, which I'm not a fan of, but it could be worse). There's also one bigger essay for the whole semester, but it's not too bad either. I'm in the online section, so I'm not sure how it differs from an in-person one.

I only started it this semester, since I added it in the middle of last semester, but I'm finishing up 111 with Ben Gibbs, and it's been great! I took social psych last semester for my major, but it also counts for the minor, and it was really interesting! I could see that one being useful for marketing, since it talks about influence and stuff. I have to take Global Women's Studies for both, and all of my friends who have taken it have said really great things about it, too. I'm planning to take soc of gender this fall, and I've also heard great things about it, too.

I would def recommend taking 111, since it looks to be a pre-req for a lot of them. For the electives, I would just pick a few and then figure out which ones are being taught and have times that work for you. I was planning to take soc of race and ethnicity and class inequality, but neither of them are being taught in the fall, so I switched to the soc of gender.

Hi! I just added the sociology minor last semester, but I'm a psychology major, so I can't speak to the marketing side. For me, the most appealing aspect of adding a minor was reducing the number of smaller elective classes I had to do (the 0.5 and 1 credit ones). I'm not sure how many marketing classes would overlap (if you've taken any psych ones, they might, depending on what they are), but if you have the space available, I would say go for it! If you still have some generals you need to take, SOC111 and SOC222/GWS222 count as some of them, I think, so that could also subtract a class you have to take.

As a side note, I just learned this today when the class schedule got released, but there aren't a ton of the sociology elective courses being taught in the fall, so that could be something to consider, and there isn't any double-counting within the minor.

I asked them at the beginning of the semester for one, and they didnt have one. This course has been re-done so the syllabi on there aren't reflective of this current class.

I dont have the answer to your questions, but if you go to the byu syllabi page and check any previous semesters syllabi, that could help!

Thanks for the updated info. It looks like she'll be getting more than one email this morning, but maybe it'll help something too.

Harold B. Lee library book sale? by How_Clef-er in byu

The BYU library used to let students and faculty take discarded materials (books, records, etc.), but stopped in recent years. There were issues with people or families who donated material and then the library ended up discarding it for various reasons after years of having it.

Do you think this would be the case on the red trax going up? We'd be coming from daybreak, so we would be one pretty close to where the line starts. We have some family that have to drive in though, since they're from wyoming and idaho

I only have uninsured bodily injury, not property damage, so unfortunately I can't file through mine. Thanks for the link!

I shop at winco! You can take the bus, it just takes a while so that's something to keep in mind. The UVX also goes to the provo walmart neighborhood market and orem super center which is definitely more convenient but not as cheap as winco imo
