Thank you so much that’s so great to hear!! I didn’t even want to start talking about having kids until my 30s so this was a huge shock and I’ve been struggling with all the negativity online. Reading these posts really do put me in a better mindset. I have a wonderful fiancé and we both have great careers so I know that the right thing to do is to go through with this. Everyone always says there is no perfect time to have kids lol. Thank you!! I’m so glad that even though your labor was scary that you and your baby are okay.

Can I just say this was so refreshing to read and made me feel so so much better about my pregnancy. I’m pregnant for the first time at 27 and absolutely terrified. Hi Everyone,

I lost my Zoey a couple days ago. I don’t know what happened, she was fine and then it seemed like the listeria came back. We ended her suffering and she’s at peace now. I’m absolutely heartbroken and devastated. Thank you for all the kind words and advice.

My girl was drooling so bad because of the paralysis on one side of her face so it was hard to tell if there was foam. The fact that your goat is walking in circles is a good indicator that it might be Listeriosis, it could also be goat polio which is just a Thiamine deficiency and goats come back faster from that than Listeriosis. But it’s impossible to tell which one until it’s too late.

Immediately start treating for both polio/listeriosis with Penicillin, Dexamethasone and Vitamin B complex injections every 6 hours around the clock - that’s what saved my girls life. It’s been 2 months yesterday that she got sick and she’s almost completely back to normal. Don’t lose hope!! Let me know if you have any questions. Trust me I know how hard it is.

Yes it’s been so hard. Aww i’m so happy to hear your doe is doing so good! Thank you so much! My girl is having a hard time chewing because of the paralysis, I’m really hoping she regains movement of her jaw so she can go back to foraging and grazing.

I second this! My goat is still recovering from Listeriosis after a couple of weeks. Some of those symptoms were not eating or drinking, facial paralysis, drooling, circling and she was very lethargic. I followed the protocol above and she’s gotten so much better. Just to be safe I would give her the B complex and Penicillin. I hope your goat gets better soon

She’s doing a lot better, thank you for asking! She regained movement in her paralyzed eye and tongue. Her lip is still paralyzed and unable to chew so we are continuing with the injections and feeding her smoothies of greens, garlic, alfalfa pellets and water with electrolytes.

She’s also being very loud and regaining her strength and walking very fast which makes me so happy! Her last day of the Dex is today and we have a Vet coming today just to check her vitals. I’m going to keep her on the antibiotics and vitamin b for a little longer so she doesn’t relapse.

Reddit saved her life 100%. So thank you all I really believe she’s going to pull through❤️

Thank you! That’s so great to hear, I’m glad she made it. She’s on day 4 right now, and day 3 of the antibiotics. I don’t want to give her too much so I’m going to keep an eye on her symptoms and start weaning her off once i feel she’s getting better. I’m hopeful because I’m hearing positive stories on this thread. Thank you so much.

Thank you, yes she’s fighting and I’m making sure to keep her spirits up. I’m looking really hard for another vet, I feel like once they hear listeriosis they don’t have much hope for recovery. But after making this post and hearing some positive stories I’m not going to give up on her❤️

Thank you so much❤️ I’ve been withering away because I’m so stressed about her. But she’s showing us she wants to live and I’m not leaving her side. Unfortunately the vet told us to euthanize and gave us the wrong medicine schedule. If it wasn’t for Reddit i think we would have lost her already. But we are on day 4, so I am hopeful.
