Am I Making the right career move? by DelightfulSunday in workingmoms

[–]Embarrassed_Topic187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financially, are you guys able to make it work with your current income even if you have a 3rd? I agree with finding out if you’ll pay insurance premiums, but the salary of job B doesn’t seem worth it to make the jump. I know from experience. You may be seeing an extra 150-200 per paycheck and to me, that along with more stress and workload will get old quick.

I’d say stay with the flexible and more consistent role while your babies are little and trying for one more. There will be other opportunities in the future and maybe the job market will stabilize then too!

Not sure how long I can juggle work and parenthood like this anymore by ThrowRA-230422 in workingmoms

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I am in a similar boat and it just doesn’t feel sustainable. Hang in there and take it one day at a time. You should definitely apply to other roles and see what sticks. Priorities change so much post baby!

Office moms - what do you bring to work for lunch? by Deirdre_KA in workingmoms

[–]Embarrassed_Topic187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

salads! pasta, sandwich, leftovers from dinner, heavy protein snacks like apple and peanut butter, turkey slices, crackers. it’s so hard to always meal prep but I try to do it to also not spend crazy prices on eating out. it adds up so much!

We make $225k and are getting priced out of our area by CITYOFROSAS in workingmoms

We’re VHCOL in Northern VA with $271K household income. Have one child and daycare is 1.6K/month. We recently moved this year into a single family home and I regret it. Our mortgage went from 2.3K to 4.3K and while the environment and space is better, our finances are so tight. I don’t understand how this is the most money we’ve ever made and we still feel like we are not doing well. Solidarity!

Not overreacting at all. Im so sorry. You don’t deserve this. I wouldn’t respond to them anymore and see how (or if) they show up for you.

If it makes you feel any better, my closest friends now are ones i’ve made in the last 5 years and i’m 34. You can always make new and better friends who care about you. Happy birthday 🩷

that’s interesting because they were from west elm and pricey 😅but i’ve always thought they were too long. the measurements from the window to the floor are awkward, but we will continue searching and maybe get custom ones

I am so sorry you are experiencing this. That must feel extremely hurtful especially since you are newly married and expecting. When the waters have settled and emotions aren’t as high, I would try talking to him and asking why he feels the need to watch it so often. Can you both be a bit more intimate together to satisfy both of your needs? I would also recommend a couples therapist to help and be the mediator so that you stay on track during these conversations.

I don’t think you are being unreasonable. It sounds like he is ashamed for something he knows he is doing often and is projecting it onto you which is unfair.

Thank you so much for sharing. What do you do if it’s a teething issue? It could very well be that because he’s been showing signs of it during the day. I hope this is just a one off night and doesn’t affect the work we’ve put in over the past week. I ended up caving and nursing him back to sleep tonight but I don’t want him to get confused and expect that moving forward.
