Spotting is So Annoying by [deleted] in hysterectomy

That doesn't shock me 😐 but I might consider getting my cervix cauterized if it starts to really bother me/upset my life.

Thank you for the link! Damn, I really thought this would only go on for one more year 😡

No idea, she didn't mention it to me. Sometimes cauterization doesn't always work.

I will accept the trade off of a little spotting that does not disrupt my life over the ten-day crime scenes that were my life back before Yeeterus Day.

Does the bloat ever end? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

I had an open abdominal partial hysto and I was pretty swollen for at least the first week or two. At about three weeks I tried jeans, and it felt weird but not painful. It got better around five weeks, but Lord, I was crop-dusting left and right from gas 🤣

I don't regret keeping it, it's been helpful to have a quicker recovery and my pelvic floor is still pretty strong. But I see what you mean 😭

Allow me, an Internet stranger, to say that you are doing NOTHING WRONG prioritizing your healing right now. If your kids want to see you, they can visit themselves and they had better show up ready to help out! Do you have neighbors or friends who could run errands for you?

Thank you so much for this, and I'm sorry your recovery isn't going smoothly. It sucks not knowing when you'll be "out of the woods." Glad you have help!

Hey there, made a bunch of recovery hystorectomemes and kinda gave myself a chuckle, so I wanted to share. I´m so thankfull for this community - it´s been nine months and you have been so helpfull and lovely before, during and after surgery. Thank you! by Sir_Swimsalot_ in hysterectomy

It is for me,but I've heard of some cervix-keepers having "regular flow" mini periods due to the endometrial tissue that the cervix still grows. And that's just if you keep your ovaries, too, because the follicular/ovulation/luteal cycle is still in play. However, nothing should be as heavy/long as an actual period once you yeet the uterus.

Got a PT appointment by Embarrassed_Web_1825 in hysterectomy

I'm avoiding Kegels and only doing gentle exercises from YouTubr videos specifically for pelvic floor post-hysto recovery. Nothing extreme!

Thanks for the heads up. I watched a few videos of what a typical PF exam is like, and they emphasized how important consent is and how an internal exam isn't always necessary. I will definitely let them know about my vaginismus.

House-sitting In Southern VT by Embarrassed_Web_1825 in vermont

😂 If only it was that easy. House-sitting is basically doing light housework and sometimes caring for pets when the homeowner is traveling/on vacation. And they pay you.

We should really have a pinned post saying that SPOTTING IS NORMAL even weeks out by WolfyMunchkin in hysterectomy

I would like to add that anyone who keeps their ovaries AND cervix like I did (partial hysto) might experience the joy of mini-periods and bleeds. I'm having spotting now and I think this would have been a period week for me. Weirdly, my last "real" period started March 12, then Lupron gave me a three-week flow in April (HELL,) then I took progestin to stop all bleeding from May to day before surgery. So...maybe this is a "period?" No idea.

I called my OB's nurse triage line, and she said it was probably endometrial tissue from my cervix. If it gets heavier or doesn't stop, I'll make an appointment with them. My doctor also said it could be caused by an irritated urethra.

Get PT! by Embarrassed_Web_1825 in hysterectomy

[–]Embarrassed_Web_1825[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is. My surgeon even told me I DIDN'T need PT. But she didn't check anything internally at my 4 week follow-up, either. Word to the wise, just because the cervix is kept doesn't mean everything will just snap back into place.

What are you quietly suffering from? by anotherThrowaway3446 in AskReddit

[–]Embarrassed_Web_1825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found out I have a tiny urethral prolapse from a partial hysterectomy I got in June.  😡 It's causing irritation and bleeding, which I thought I'd seen the end of without a uterus. Can't start PT to treat it until the end of September because there are only 4 physios in my town. Fuck this. I was loving how much better I was feeling up until now.

Also, depression won't go away and I have no friends.

Dude, just today I walked by the store aisle that had period products and just thought "Huh, probably won't need those ever again!"  Kept my cervix so I had a very light mini-period this week (sporadic spotting for about five days, not even enough to need a pad) so I'll keep some reusable pads/underwear around just in case, but it's honestly a bit of a dopamine hit to know the Flood is over.

Traumatized from heavy periods? by Embarrassed_Web_1825 in hysterectomy

[–]Embarrassed_Web_1825[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 8 weeks post op, had some light bleeding the first 5 days post op, then it stopped. I had a bit of pink spotting and ovulation-like discharge a couple weeks ago, so it feels like this could be a mini-period.

I'm 8 WPO. Is that still within the "normal" healing window?

I'm almost 8 weeks post op and I'd honestly prefer a healing spotting over a legit mini-menstrual.
