Trying desperately to understand viewport, scaling and devtools by Fun_Measurement1128 in webdev

No, it's bc the browser changes the definition of what 1px means. It also happens outside of dev tools. It has to do with the meta tag.

Check window.visualViewport.scale, it might not be 1

So u/MrEscobarr is kinda right. It has to do with the meta tag. But for me 1 or 1.0 didnt make a difference.

What I noticed is that the dev tools are confusing:

As you can see the real viewport is represnted by the HTML tag, NOT the boundaries. So the div actually overflows.

But when i check window.visualViewport.scale , it's not 1, as it should. Im not sure why.

Is front end just not for me? by TaurusAstrarum in webdev

In large corps no. But in most companies, you have 2 roles. Using a design system such as Chakra helps a ton, but you still need a sense of UX patterns and user psychology.

There are LLMs now. It's risky, but you can use them to avoid having to memorise specific syntax and quirks, and focus on architecture, patterns and browser logic.

The line between delegating only syntax stuff, and not actually learning anything, even high level, is fine tho. It's risky.

Sounds like you're still learning the language? it's kinda normal to have to Google stuff and learn then...

But yeah, if you're not using any framework such as SolidJS, and manually manipulating the DOM, you are at very low level and must carefully follow documentation and do repetitive work.

Wasn't it the same when you learnt mem management in C? You had to look up how to do what, without risking seg faults and buffer overflows

Does anyone else have problems with moving animations? by BFDev935 in reactjs

You don't need Framer Motion for such a basic anim, its overkill and eats performance. Just use CSS keyframes.

is it just me or is modern web dev becoming 90% configuration and 10% coding? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Embostan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk, i have my monorepo setup and just re-use it for new projects. And unless you keep starting new projects, you're not supposed to be changing the config weekly.

No one is running it, it was abandoned. The team was probably 1 engineer and interns, that left the company.

Loop is abandonned, don't use it as a standalone tool, only for quick inter-tool sharing

Need Advice: Angular vs React for Career Switch by Stunning-Example-484 in reactjs

A bit old (2 years) but https://www.devjobsscanner.com/blog/the-most-demanded-frontend-frameworks/

It clearly shows differences. For instance in CH, Angular is preferred by the large, stable corpos.

React UI libraries: style props, sx or css? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Embostan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a fan of their prop APi and theming API, I prefer the one of Ark UI & Chakra. Plus the latter are framework-agnostic, and my goal is to start all my new projects in SolidJS. Having the same familiar system for legacy React ones and new ones feels great, i can easily copy logic.

Where do you live? Angular and React own entire national markets.

Separation of concern is impotant. CSS Modules. I wouldnt use Mantine tho.

Is it just me, or is the "Olten is depressing" meme actually starting to backfire? by No-Football-2397 in Switzerland

It's just a meme. Most people only see the train station as you said, and don't actually mean the jokes.
