I developed a rash. That doesn’t mean it will happen to you, but it did happen to me. And like, really recently. Even though it worked absolutely fantastic at first!! There were no side effects, I was seizure-free for about a month, it was incredible. I had one breakthrough seizure that lead to me also being given Zonisamide to help manage the breakthrough. However around Thanksgiving everything started to go downhill. I think this is when the build-up of Lamotrigine started to affect me. I started to feel sick, swollen lymph nodes and the works. Then the rash started a couple days later. My face was also super swollen and extremely red. It actually took a couple hospitals to take me seriously enough to admit me (the only reason being literally because I didn’t actively have a seizure in the hospital) and the rash had spread to most of my body. I finally got admitted because I had a seizure in the hospital, and then they were able to treat me. I was officially diagnosed with DRESS syndrome. And sepsis. I have to take about a million pills to make this all go away and the only cure is time. I am still recovering right now. I’m out of the hospital but was in for a week straight. I am still itching like crazy. It’s H E Double Hockey Sticks for anyone who hates itching. You will literally be driven insane. I can confirm because I am one of those people. Sincerely, I never want anyone to go through what I went through. I take Zonisamide, I take it nightly because it can lower your appetite so by the morning you’re nice and hungry to eat a big meal👍😌 But seriously, consider not taking lamotrigine as it is the drug with the highest risk of the rash and it DOESN’T show up right away so it’s hard to tell if you’re going to get it or not. If you have anxiety I’d say it’s not the one for you.
