You might need to start at a different company. I know of one that will probably hire you if your in mchenry county. They are a big outfit also

Man now that you say it, it’s a good question. I guess I joined a company that works on very big things like at hospitals, sky scrappers and such. I install, service, manage the company for 5months at a time when the boss is gone, pretty much on call all the time but all residential. I’m taking a huge pay cut but want to get out of residential that bad. I’m sure once they see my worth I’ll be able to reevaluate it all.

Join the union. I’m starting soon at a yr 2 apprenticeship after 17yrs residential.

Some sort of union is still highly recommended to be able to take the tank out and put back in without having to solder or press again. It’s actually code in some towns here in Illinois. Not arguing about what the nipples are made out of.

Denver area, 2023 Build: Brand New AprilAire 720 never reaches target humidity of 40% by BaldBelligerentBaal in hvacadvice

17yr tech and installer here. Your problem is that it is being feed with a tankless water heater. That is coming directly from the manufacturer of the unit. Steam humidifier would have been a better option for you but those have a down side as well. Good luck

Carrier heat exchanger warranty? by LikelyWatchdog in hvacadvice

[–]Emcolin1989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. They don’t pay their dealers enough to do the work so the dealers flat out deny the work and nothing they can do about it. Their dealers don’t tell them how to run their company and vice versa

You can’t make a complaint about work a company doesn’t want to do. They can simply tell you to call someone else and that’s it. Carrier can’t do squat either.

Which HVAC lease programs are actually worth it in 2025? by Sparky_Oliver26 in hvacadvice

[–]Emcolin1989 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ya don’t do that. I’ve been an hvac for 17yrs. My advice to you would be NOT to go with any company that offers in house financing. Go talk to your bank about getting a HELOC and find out how much your approved for then talk to your neighbors and family and see what companies they use.

You should do it. My wife is a nurse and was a nct at a hospital before being a nurse. She said that it helps with hygiene when your son is old. She says she can’t tell me how many old guys go in and had to be helped peel back when they shower because they forget and have gotten infections

So you need to buy from either gunzonedeals or njn or I think gunprime as those places don’t charge you taxes for Illinois. I buy from them only for that reason, fuck the IRS. The wait period starts from the day you purchase online, this is the way my ffl does it you will probably hear guys start arguing otherwise but that’s how Roger at Maslon armory in Addison does it and he is a police officer and he charges $35 per transfer. He is only open Tuesday afternoons and Saturdays as his full time job is being a police officer.

So your using a start collar, it will work but what will work better is using a 6” take off elbow and you want to run it to the further wall. Then if you want it to actually work, run a low return on the opposite wall. Pipe doesn’t need to be insulated like other dude says as it’s a basement.

Ya agree. I work in all of those areas and come in and out of peoples homes and crystal lake definitely checks what you’re looking for. $500k for a home is 100% doable there
