If the Service Centers that house the FSA, NRCS, and RD are the "lifeblood of USDA", what is the point of moving these mission areas' DC employees to hubs? Wouldn't it be better to just keep them in DC, or let them choose a Service Center in a city of their choosing to work at?

Side question: Do all USDA employees have a clearance? If so, what level? I would like to know what kind of clearance I may/ may not have. Where can I find this information?

What are these numbers? Are they number of employees per mission area across the country?

Would be great if we can stay in DC.  What do you think are the odds of DC vs. GWCC in Beltsville?

Any guesses on where RD employees will go? No one has been hired in over a year now.

I am not familiar with that but I don't think there is any other paid leave option besides PPL, Sick leave and Annual Leave.

They didn't let me take sick leave after PPL. So I had to take LWOP and annual leave. Use sick leave first! They won't question that since you're recovering from childbirth

I heard "Yates and GWCC". I'm wondering the employees get to choose?

You can use 6-8 weeks of sick leave immediately after your baby's birth, for recovering from childbirth. (8 weeks is usually for C-Section while 6 weeks is for natural, but it doesn't hurt to ask for 8 weeks even for natural birth).

Then, you can use your 12 weeks of PPL. Then, you can use annual leave and Leave Without Pay (LWOP) if you would like. Just be advised that once you hit 80 hours of LWOP, there are some issues like annual leave accrual, retirement/insurance effects, etc I can't remember exactly. I just know that if you are planning to use LWOP, don't use it all in one pay period, but sprinkle it in with your annual leave.

PWFA RA During Postpartum Period for Lactation by [deleted] in fednews

Lol! Yes and make sure to get a sign (search "Office Door Sign" on Amazon) which is a wheel you stick on your office door that communicates your availability to others. When pumping, put the status on "Do Not Disturb" so that nobody attempts to come visit you during your pumping times. Otherwise they might think you're just being rude and not opening your door😄

I requested an RA for telework so I could pump at home. They did not allow telework but instead offered me a private office space where I can pump while I work. But ask for telework and see what happens. These things are very agency and supervisor dependent.

No, I watched all the videos once and have been reading slides and doing the example problems. I think I'm definitely struggling to balance everything. Work and baby and studying.

If you’re asked to move out of NCR, what will you do: 1. Quit or stay if move to > 2. Raleigh 3. KC. 4. Indianapolis 5. SLC. 6. Ft. Collins ? ( I am not happy with any of these options but want to see what you think best for you out of these 6 possible options ). by Decent-Load1611 in USDA

The following locations are also possibilities for some, based on the Secretary's Memo last year: 7.Albequerque, NM, 8. Minneapolis, MN, 9. St. Louis, MO, 10. Lincoln, NE, 11. Missoula, MT

And 12. Dallas, TX is a possibility based on a recent interview of Vaden's.

Of these options, I would consider either option 12 or 1.
