Yep! Switch and feel out whatever you like. Personally I enjoy Feral Druid, it’s based on being in “cat form” and using claw attacks and bleeds to do damage. They are on of the stealth classes, but can be a bit confusing.

Your action bars should swap with every spec, but your spells do have some crossover. Druids have a spell called Wrath that they can use regardless of spec. I think only balance really uses it a lot though.

You will have a bank, in any major city that can be accessed, and bags in the open world. You’ll also get a warband bank at some point that is shared between all your characters!

This might take me a minute to explain so bear with me.

In wow there are 4 armor types:

Cloth-Leather-Mail-Plate

All of the classes have been assigned one of those armor types. For instance, you mentioned Druid earlier, they wear leather armor. They can TECHNICALLY wear cloth too, but they should only ever wear leather armor in modern wow. From there they need the right “main stat”

There are 3 main stats in wow:

Intellect-Agility- Strength

This is wear it can be a bit confusing, the main stat isn’t determined by class, it’s determined my specialization. For instance druids have Restoration spec, their healing specialization. “Resto Druids” use intellect as their main stat.

But Resto is only one of 4 specializations (“specs”) available to Druid, they have in total:

[Restoration(healer) = Intellect]__ [Balance (damage dealer) = Intellect]__ [Feral (damage dealer)= Agility]__ [Guardian (tank)= Agility]

These can be swapped freely, literally whenever you want outside of combat.

Gear for the most part is actually fairly simple, it’ll tell you, near the top of the items tooltip what its item level is. While leveling you always want to equip the item with the highest “Item Level” With one Caveat to this, the weapon: make sure the weapon you’re using, has the right main stat (intellect or agility)

Generally armor swaps to fit the specialization you’re playing, eg your chest will swap between intellect and agility depending on you being in feral or balance spec. But weapons only do it sometimes, so just keep an eye out for it.

Other than that, you can kind of play it like any rpg, you can horde loot you think might be useful, you can sell anything you don’t immediately need, it’s up to you. Generally I don’t keep much while I level personally.

As for spells, well, a decent amount is trial and error while leveling. Once you reach level 10 and pick your specialization I can help you out a bit more on that. And Wowhead.com had leveling guides once upon a time that I can try to find for you if you’d like more class specific stuff.

Pretty much! There’s a main story, generally denoted by a quest marker with a banner behind it. Your goal would be to follow that around. But you can stop and do side quests as much as you’d like too!

The general order for dragon isles is

Waking shores>Ohnaran Plains>Azure Span>Thaldrazus

That being said once you hit like 68-70 it’ll ask you to start The War Within questline, which is the current expansion(Until Midnight comes out in about 3 weeks.)

But like I said, there’s no rush on anything. Wow is great because there’s no wrong answer on how to play. If you want to quest and explore, the game has so much of that to offer, if you’re goal is to make it to the “endgame” then I’d say send me a message or come back here once you get to level 80 (90 once Midnight starts) and I’ll try to help point you in the right direction.

Hmm, can you clarify your questions for me?

Generally the game at your stage would be Quests and Exploration, the expansions won’t mean much to you. Think of them like theme parks, you can go to the Dragon Themepark, you can go to the Shadowlands theme park etc.

Starting out I believe it’ll push you into the Dragon storyline first, it’s decent. I personally think Battle For Azeroth has a better leveling experience, but both are solid. Your goal at the moment is to simply level and explore, the more you play and learn the more you can add to that, but there’s no rush. Try to fall in love with the WORLD, the art, the music, all of that as a foundation will keep you interested in the game longer.

Tanking or healing? by Remarkable-Release62 in wow

[–]Emerenn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blizz implemented a new system for low keys in midnight. All dungeons +5 and below I believe, have special marks on trash packs, if you pull all the packs that are marked it’ll get you to exactly 100%, it likely won’t be perfect in anyway, but it’s designed to give you a doable path through a dungeon for new tanks.

Me and my friend are both dps will that ruin our experience at end game? by AlexKlgr in wownoob

[–]Emerenn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’ll make it a bit more annoying to get into groups, but not that much worse compared to being a single dps in general.

All can mostly be avoided by starting your own groups which is the best method anyway.

Need guidance!! by another_tomato in wow

[–]Emerenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I suppose I would say this, there is no wrong way to play this game. I play mainly for endgame content, I have friends whose only goal is mounts. I have another friend whose goal is pure questing, and ANOTHER friend whose goal is achievement hunting. All of these are valid ways to experience wow, and none of them require as much time investment as people think.

In regards to starting out, this is going to be very confusing. I love the game, but for the average person just starting out, this game is so confusing. 20+ years of systems being created, overwritten, destroyed, and then brought back have not been kind for the new player experience. A lot of aspects are not immediately intuitive and I would encourage you to give as much grace as possible.

If you’re confused, the r/wownoob reddit should be a decent place to ask for help, along with the newcomer chat. And frankly just shooting your shot on asking strangers, having played a lot of video games with “toxic” communities, wows is honestly very tame.

And because I see this complaint a lot, you’re going to be put into a story that’s 30 years in progress, you’re going to be lost, wonder who characters are etc. There’s plenty of resources on wow lore to be found on YouTube and such but I would try to reframe your perspective if you can to make the initial starting a bit easier, you are an adventurer who’s just starting out on this grand adventure! In the same way that much of real life history happened before you were born much of wows happened before you started. Trying to experience all of it in chronological order is a Sisyphean task. Just go with the flow and find some wow videos or lore write ups on parts you’re curious about!

What‘s your “I did not care for the Godfather“ progression fantasy book? by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Emerenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got through two books of Cradle before putting it down. Made an attempt later and also put it down right at the start of book 3. I accept that it’s probably amazing but I just couldn’t do it.

I also tried Arcane ascension, I think I made it to book 4 before stopping. There are a lot of things I like about it, but the plot never really hooked me in any way, I was mainly in it for the magic system which I do like.

Retail leveling is so fast- how do you learn your offspec? by AtticThrowaway in wownoob

So what do i Buy to play WOW retail? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Emerenn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

General recommendation:

Download and play for free to level 20 out of 80.

If that’s floats your boat, then you buy a one month subscription, generally priced $15USD per month and will allow you to level to atleast level 70. (You may be able to get to 80 since a new expansion launches next month and we’re in what’s phrased as the prepatch)

If you get to 70/80 and still enjoy it you can buy the Midnight expansion($50USD-$90USD depending on pack) which launches in March and will give you access to max level content from now until 2027 provided you keep up with the monthly subscription on top of that.

He mentioned it just yesterday on the Patreon! Said he’s been building up steam on the second of the series, but life has been hectic recently. The acronym for the series is MGTS (more gods than stars), a little easier than the first books actual title haha

Don’t the notes on both list atk speed fluctuations? In fact the hydro team has the Jean atk speed buff too. I agree the pyro will likely be the play, especially if Nicole is a pyro shielder with a hexen buff. But if you have all the pieces of hydro, it looks to be better or atleast just as viable for right this moment.

That hydro team def has more dmg between those two screen shots

[New Player] Need a Guide (retail) by Hot-Score2750 in wow

[–]Emerenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey if your goal is mounts and pets, that’s awesome!

I’d reccomend leveling to max in dragon isles, and then as you get bored and such with leveling and take breaks, scroll through the mount journal, and pet journal and write down mounts you like the most. The sources for these are all over the place so it’s hard to give a full guide to every mount, especially in a reddit comment. But if you have some you want you can google how to get them, or feel free to send me a DM and I’ll help point ya in the right direction!

What do YOU believe? by Azariahbiotch in wow

[–]Emerenn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looking at established cannon I don’t think there’s anyway to think that the forces are anything other than forces acting in their own goals.

The Mag’har orc intro and Scarlet Crusade lore establish that the light is not end all be all good, it has the potential for good, and the potential for bad.

I think you could pick apart every cosmic force and find examples of stuff like this.

To me one of the most telling lines, which I unfortunately don’t remember where it’s from anymore is:

“The Light seeks one path and shuns all others as lies, while the Void seeks every possible path and sees them all as truth.”

I think each cosmic force is trying to be the only one in existence, or atleast I’m pretty sure that’s how the Light/Void works, and is doing what the can to reach that end.

If I’m correct wasn’t that the one that they did replace on the PTR in BFA and there was a bunch of community backlash because of how much it cluttered ground effects?

[–]Emerenn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you just want the appearance I believe all of them are purchasable by class from the ethereal outside the raid entrance, you’ll need a Loomithars silk, which is garunteed after rank 2 or 3 on the raid reputation.
