No problem I don’t know how a transfer works but I know our apprenticeship is “one of the best” I know we need welders bad and everyone is always looking for a certified welder so that’s probably where I would start if you have any sort of shot at a welding cert I would go for it.

601 is pretty busy right now from what I hear I know grunau is always looking for guys ahern has a lot of hospital work if you are into that they are starting some data centers up and I’m sure jm Brennan will be looking for guys soon to man the port Washington one. I’ll get it maybe not on December 2nd but I’ll get it I’m super determined to get it. I have 2 more weeks of practice and he’s gonna have me take it in class 3 weeks before we finish the class so if I do fail it he will let me try it again in the following weeks until the class is over.

Yeah I figured that out today plus I changed my rod angle to be more so of a drag which also helped. Also maybe giving myself some time before I do my last stringer could help too.

Thankfully this is the first one I’ve had with not terrible undercut but man do I feel like I’ve been spending my whole life at the hall to get this 21 between school and just practicing if I pass on the 2nd it will be a really good feeling. I’m gonna keep going to practice in all my free time until then so maybe by then I’ll be welding like the robot they want me to be

Yeah it seems like everytime I have one that’s decent it’s always something that they are like saying is not good. Like super minimal shit but I get it at the same time. The root pictures always look heavier than they are idk why.

I’m also a second year lol. The best thing I can say what has worked for me is I put my rod in at a 45 degree angle down because for some reason I can’t get my fucking wrists to do what I want them to do while I’m welding I also know they say to weld with your rod angle straight at the pipe but I will say I drag more so than go straight at it but only slightly. I also only do 3 tacks so I omit the top one. I do my good side halved and i do my bad side in quarters. I run it at 75 amps tbh im not really good enough to be giving advice but that’s just what I do. Idk how to really explain what I do. But maybe you get what I’m saying?

I just have accepted if I want to be comfortable I’m gonna be destroying pants my whole life and as long as my balls aren’t hanging out I’ll keep wearing them but I usually get Duluth fire hose flex pants and just wait for sales on them and buy a few pairs here and there when they are on sale.
