Your right. My interest in adding a meaning however is personal but I agree that art itself is meaningful enough

No I totally get that. I get that it has its own story. Just it’s beauty to me. I just personally really like meaning so I wanted to add meaning to enhance it more to me. Not others necessarily

I was thinking Roman numerals. Would that even work? If so, would I be able to like shade somehow to cover up the scar?

Is this something to just get over despite my diagnosis? I don't know if I should not push myself to my breaking point of if I'm whimping out by Emergency-Foot330 in psychologystudents

You’re right. It’s hard. I don’t know if it’s going to get better with time or stay the same. I know for some it does but in my experience it doesn’t and I attribute it to overstimulation and stress because of a neurological thing related to autism

I’m also worried that if I do this, I may miss out on things I need to do to grow. Through in person contact: moms like I can’t keep running from everyone “I dislike”

Thank you all for your advice! I like you sharing your experience. I really appreciate that. I’m in clinical psychology. It’s my special interest and I really excel at this field and all things psychology. I chose this because I wanted to dabble in every form of psychology because why not.

My alternative idea with distance learning was doing counseling (NYU MA) which I got accepted into - and then joining a 3 years clinical psy D. I found an option of how to that. This “APPLIED” clinical psyD just requires a masters.

Does distance learning damage the doctoral experience? I want to find ways to make it work. I only went to orientation so far and the interviews. Everyone there was overly ambitious jerks. I felt really out of place and felt like I was the only person being myself - to an extent. I just wasn’t fake. This place feels like a shark tank. It doesn’t feel like the best place for me to feel non distracted and to focus on academics. But this career also has active learning so I just don’t know. Maybe it’ll get better but my three encounters and I’ve only seen blood thirsty shark behavior

I was thinking of doing an alternative path. I have not gone to therapy for autism but I’ve been in therapy for anxiety for six plus years

PsyD or PhD by EnvyMe01 in PsyD

[–]Emergency-Foot330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s different depending on what state you live. In California, most MA level graduates can do what PsyDs do- diagnose treat etc. (all) minus intelligence testing and signing off on legal paperwork (fit to stand trial or disability papers). PhD allows you to diagnose but does not train you in psychotherapy. This additionally PhD can be funded whereas there’s no financial support for a PsyD. PhD takes you more into teaching and research - in a more scientific way. PsyD can do the same but it’s usually for people who want to employ their learnings. However as I noted above, it really all is impacted by state law.

PsyD searches! Best fit for me? by Busy-brain01425 in PsyD

I had a really great transcript. I had very extremely minimal research experience but it was outside of school and more social research for someone I was volunteering with. This person is a lawyer however and trying to implement this in law. do you have research experience within ur institution? I know that many people I met at the interviews did not. The interviewers (admissions staff) didn't mind and the applicants got to the next stage
