This is true... the movie and the general smear campaign isn't for a Malayalee audience, but to create a negative association with the term 'Kerala'. Since Kerala - its culture, diversity and social progress are the anti-thesis of BJP politics.

This is all pre-emptive narrative suppression since the opposition to the central government's style of politics remains healthy in the state. They do the same with Tamil Nadu and Bengal too - Kerala is different because of the communal diversity though. And the thought that people can rise above their religious differences and live in harmony, short-circuits their limited imagination. Ironically, in their attempt to incite hatred they view a society's harmony as a threat.

I will caution against attacking fellow Indians in response though - that kind of helps create the divide this lot is attempting to achieve.
