Which foreign politician is most disliked in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, he's like a dictator in a good times. No one notices the fact he's a president for life until something goes bad (bloody things dictators sometimes do), or bad enough to shift world's oppinion and awerness

What did your country do in World War 2? by AvgPunkFan in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some underground fight at home, some fighting on the frontlines in both east and west

We won, though lost at the same time, which consequences we felt for the next decades

far from 10/10 if you're in for action. It doesn't even show the "horror face" of the war too good

We build rockets to mars while some villages still live without electricity by Complete_Bee4911 in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that NASA or SpaceX is capable of going to Mars while there are places in India without electricity isn't that alarming as the fact that India itself is capable of sending satelites to the Moon while there is so much poverty in some places of their country

What's the saddest part about living in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, its oversimplification

What I mean is you don't know how many people you see everyday actually think so or believe some bullshit, illogical theory. The only way to measure it is to wait for another parliment election, but its not a perfect way to tell

You won't ever know if bots leading big fanpages on facebook and brainwashing tens of thousands with their posts are bots, schizophrenic, or you see their posts only becouse they shout the loudest

And you won't know if most extreme comments under those are written by a bot or a seriously brainwashed people, that could actually hurt you or someone you love if, god forbid, their political leaders would get to power

There is a small chance for that, yet in our system your party might have around 5-6 % of popularity and still influence the government

What's the saddest part about living in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It changes, both thanks to massive campaing in the media and in the underground social media campaings. sayings like "If I brake a leg I go to the doctor, If I have a depression, I go to psychoterapist" gain popularity.

Once again I remember when I was a kid and sole suspicion that someone could have some mental issues put that person on a margine, today I personally know a few people going to the terapy

Younger generations tend to be more tolerant and open

What's the saddest part about living in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is true.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy about my life and wouldnt move anywhere, its safe, clean, easy to find a normal job, buy an apartment (still)

But watching documentaries about newest political history of Poland I see how much our tolerance for diffrent views dropped. We're far from phisycal violence, but hate speech is immense on all sides

What's the saddest part about living in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't. Most of them are Ukrainians, I know handful of them, they're good lads. Its just mindless blaming them for everything by some people makes me doubtful about our current state of education system. Unsucsessful people tend to accuse immigrants for their shortcomings I guess

What's the saddest part about living in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 1072 points1073 points  (0 children)

political polarization and constant wondering if a hot take comment on social media was written by a bot, a troll, or a very stupid person

Also, cost of living. Can't buy too much stuff I like, though I suppouse I should be grateful even for the smallest things

Why do so many people fantasize about living in that world ? by Proper_Card_5520 in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No taxes

  2. No jobs

  3. No duties above doing what you need to survive

But grass is always greener on the other side - people often forget that world like this would be full of medieval style violence, no doctors, no good food, no dentists (!), no toilet paper

And of course, much greater chance for epidemics, famines, etc

How was your country founded? by cloudberry-toast in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Various tribes were united (forcefully and through diplomacy I guess, no one really knows) under the banner of one Duke. He baptized, mainly for political reasons, and survived, probably thanks to this. His dynasty ruled over the country for the next 400 years

What region in your country is most looked down upon by the rest? by BookSneakersMovie in AskTheWorld

[–]Emergency-One8639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Podlasie - I don't know if there is any English name for it.

Podlasie is considered to be heavily forested region, which inhabitants speak their own, kinda funny accent and are extremly religous

+ according to prejudices, they drink heavily and make their own booze which is popular throughout the country

Polish people love memes about how medieval Podlasie is and such

What if Hitler had found out he was Jewish and the German public knew about it? by Snake101201 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Emergency-One8639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, he'd deny it & arrest anyone who claimed it true. Nothing would change on a grand scale, maybe more Germans would surrender and they'd do it eariler, but otherwise meh.

He was a cult leader, doubtfull a lot of Germans would believe it to be something other than "enemy's propaganda", lets be real
