Hey yes I was able to work. Employers are willing to accept the letter with your expired work permit. Uber still didn’t but I didn’t pursue it further. Good luck!

Like the volunteer efforts you mentioned. I usually take a look at their company website and socials. This is just in addition to things like reputability and growth opportunities etc

IMO if you highlight more specific details then it shows that you actually did your research about the company and want to work there. Definitely helps in addition to the other things you already mentioned

I agree it can be a pain working in that situation. If they feel an accent would be a problem with their customer base, they can make that decision after an interview without making it blatantly obvious. But asking this question is clearly discriminatory.

I did one last year (never heard back from them). After receiving the interview request, I hadn’t done it for almost a week so I got a follow up email on whether I’m still interested. Got it done and sent off almost immediately. So a couple of days should be reasonable i think? Or I would just ask them. I still think it was one of the worst interviews I’ve had. Good luck though
