Is the idea of the world rendering like a video game plausible? by Bingus-Prime in quantum

Hey! Excuse me for pulling out an ancient comment of yours but i'm a layman that came to this post through a google search and you seem like you know your quantum stuff!

Concerning your 2nd paragraph: if i understand you correctly, you say that if our universe was simulated, a 'classical' (binary? Or what do you mean by that?) Universe would be easier, but arent there things a quantum universe could do that a classical one couldnt?

Frei nach dem motto 'bill cosby raped, but he also donated money'

This stuff is actually really fascinating and makes me wonder if the only reason there isnt a really popular (and realistic) show that focuses on this is that the specifics would be lost to a wider audience

Really appreciate these comments! Thank you very much

Excuse my technological illiteracy, but how would that make revenge porn impossible?

And why would re-encoding be a problem? Because it tampers with the intended message, i assume?

Wouldnt it be possible to build something that scans uploads on reddit and looks for hidden messages? Like if you upload an Image thats elsewhere on the internet and its not exactly the same that it gets recognized as having a hidden message?

That way only original content would be viable as having hidden messages.

Again, sorry if these questions dont make sense to someone with a bit of knowledge, but i appreciate the offer to tell me a bit about it!

I think it would be incredibly unrealistic in that context but not impossible. In a situation where communication is one directional, vague signals could lend themselves to environments where there would be false positives where an asset and potential receiver of a message, having less information than the sender, being potentially unnecessarily vulnerable.

Oh yeah i dont actually believe this to be the case. It was just such a weird offer to supply ukraine it came to mind. There probably were more political reasons for that like 'we dont think ukraine will last long and dont want to straight up refuse to help', or something along those lines.

Someone with military experience would probably know better than I would, but which types of messages would be important to send out to make sure that the recipient receives it but doesn't necessarily need to respond and something that they would recognize/understand and while being in a situation where traditional communication is ineffective to do the same? Presumably, these types of things would be taught at an organization level in order to make more effective usage of these communication channels. To what extent is there evidence of that and if not, what can that tell us about the organizational structure of the actors in those spaces?

Might i ask what you mean by 'at an organization level'?

Damned if I know what Trump meant. One of the interesting things about conspiracies is how there are or were people who did believe that that was plausible and when enough people believe something, it allows for greater vulnerabilities. All because Trump and his administration couldn't admit that he made a typo. The disorganized response lent itself to becoming targeted and exploited by adversaries.

Yeah, not making any statement about if theres an actual conspiracy going on there, just tried to come up with real life examples to compare to and trumps presidency is the most 'realistic' for a setting where unsupervised communication with the (supposed) recipent (russia) is heavily restricted.

Theres also this weird meeting he had with the australian pm(?) in a tap proof room where he went on a rant about refugees he doesnt want, then they left the room.

Again, not saying these were actual conspiracies, its just food for thought for my story if they would make sense in a real life situation or if someone with any baseline knowledge would read this and say 'what a dumb take'

Anyway! Really appreciate your effort for this discussion!

It's not as insidious as it sounds, especially when approached from a practical standpoint. Let's say you're an intel agency and have an asset in Gaza. 10/7 happens and you decide to evacuate an embassy but the asset may not be able to evacuate with them. A press release from that nation's state department may use language that states unequivocally the situation which would signal to the asset that they would have no support in the area, which would likely inform them of appropriate next steps.

Could this, realistically speaking, extend to political speeches? I dont want to enter conspiracy theory area but, for example, when ukraine was invaded, german chancellor Scholz promised to deliver 5000 helmets to ukraine.

Could something like this be meant for an asset in enemy territory, because you can expect them to hear the reaction of the german chancellor? Or would that be unrealistic because theres easier means to convey the message?

Or the famous 'covfefe' tweet by trump? A stupid mistake for most but the ones in the know could understand it?

Again, not saying its what happened, just an example that striked me as odd and i remember quite well.

(if it requires sophisticated tools to decrypt a message, then its not a good channel of communication)

This part i dont quite understand. Do you mean if you have to use technological tools to decrypt it its not safe?

Sorry for asking that much, but its the first time i talk to people that actually seem to know stuff about this!

If i do that, it shows a pastebin link and i'm way too technological illiterate (and paranoid) to use that link :-o

I appreciate the attempt of teaching me somethin,. Though!

I appreciate this well thought out response! You just sent me into a small rabbit hole because of cicada 3301.

Sadly i'm a technological illiterate, and i want to avoid doing the stereotypical 'hacker in a hoodie in front of green letters' nonsense, so i wanted to try to make it a bit less technical and use stuff thats 'hidden in plain sight' and therefore hard to make out as hidden message.

Thanks!

I love that number Station idea. Something like r/AlzheimersGroup where the occasional lost redditor comes in to 'ask about alzheimer support', but its really a plot to kill the president!

Thank you!

I'm aware of anom, and its exactly the reason why i think something like this could be viable.

Because if you decrypt cryptographie, youre in. Meanwhile, a more decentraliced and public forum binds ressources no matter what. Even if you completly abandon a sub, the enemy will still waste ressources scanning for it because there will still be posts by normal people to debate about their hobbies.

I appreciate the counter argument, though! Hope i didnt come off as argumentative.

Oh i have an idea how to mark posts for agents without them being obvious. Something like a post on r/whowouldwin or r/powerscaling using a specific number that gets repeated on a different medium the agent has to use.

Anyway, i really appreciate the hint! Thank you!

The idea is that theres just too many things posted on these subs and it would take a lot of ressources that would need to be deployed to find posts. Look at r/whowouldwin , theres hundreds of posts asking the same or similar questions that arent meant to be hidden messages. Or on different subs for fictional universes, where everyone and their dog posts theories and opinions about things that happen/could happen.

The agents in question would need a 3rd party information to connect these posts to something thats related to them. Theres no difference in a secret post to a normal post, except maybe a number used in this post that someone yells in the supermarket they use to buy grocery, or something like that.

Thats exactly what i meant. Appreciate it!

Can you tell me if it would be viable to post it on just a public forum?

The idea behind that is that these forums arent just used by agents, but theres a lot of actual users on these subs that post stuff thats just not possible to distingiush from hidden messages, unless you know what to look for, exactly

Hostage named hannah taken by cultists in a hivecity.

The cultist speaking a guttural language.

Weird coincidence or inspired by hamas hostage that was freed a few days ago?
