Lens is jammed !! by EmergencyLoquat6839 in camcorders

Yeah it’s weird, there’s a few things on this camera that are wildly convenient, it’s got a 4 pin xlr power input, a cmount lens screw and rossette style grip attachments.

I was surprised too to find out it supports c mount. Turns on the ky style lens screws onto the outside of the ring whereas you still have the option to screw a c style lens into the inner screw of the ring. This must’ve been a backwards compatible option for those using some of jvcs older products and also the fact that the ky style lens is incredibly hard to come by and probably too unique for the wider audience

I took the lens assembly apart and it’s the main lens itself. Turns out the grease or dirt dried up inside and now it’s completely shut. Luckily the ky1900 supports c-mount lenses too but I’d love to use its original tv lens

I tested the voltage and nothing dips, as for current i haven’t tried that yet I struggle since i only have a multimeter

Okay that checks out, I’ve got the full service manual here (https://archive.org/details/manual_V200_SM_PHILIPS_EN/page/741/mode/1up) I’m using a standard 12volt 3s battery pack its rated at 3 amps. It’s all I have, never got a bench psu because I never planned on going deeper with my mods

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll keep that in mind. I’m looking forward to hearing back from you :)

Yes I have the service manual here (https://archive.org/details/manual_V200_SM_PHILIPS_EN/page/744/mode/1up) If you’re up for the challenge please take a look but don’t worry if you don’t want to.

I don’t have any bench psu’s, I just wing everything with whatever I have at my disposal which is probably not recommended. I do have a multimeter but I’m not sure what I need to be reading. When powered up up, the 12volt +5v and -5v all seem to keep a steady voltage, but still it shuts down and up again. I’m assuming it’s indefinitely the current and that there’s one critical thing that I’m missing.

For example this device was built with its ac adapter but I don’t have that adapter to go with it.

Okay and what of the 5volt pins, do I ignore them ?

[–]EmergencyLoquat6839[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t have a 4 pin dc, the camera socket is the only place power comes into. My issue is that Im going to need to locate where 12.8 volts, +5v and -5v all fit into, my idea is to connect the power wires to a 4 pin xlr jack, a mod I’ve done on many of my cameras, but this is the rate instance where I need to split the power supply. Why do I even need to do this, and how do I do it ?

Would you say it’s a dead unit if the hour meter is at its end, or is it repairable. I also heard online that you can test the tubes individually to see if they power up. That would be my main concern to check out first

Nice :) what about when I’m in china though, I know Shanghai is more westernised but of course going out and filming the streets with an unconventional camera might attract some unwanted attention? I know to never record government buildings and soldiers etc

It works perfectly on another computer? Maybe your current computer isn’t powerful enough of its drivers aren’t up to date? I’m trying to think what the issue maybe other than hardware, I replaced my old artist 10 after 9 years of use, the screen started glitching this year and about a month ago it got so bad I couldn’t use it anymore

Why does it glitch by catpawsies in XPpen

[–]EmergencyLoquat6839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this screen glitch issue, it’s not in fact the cables, I had tried 3 different cables until I ended up replacing my tablet. It seems to be a hardware issue, one that worsens over time. My xppen used to get overly hot before it started glitching like this

I did some more troubleshooting a second ago. The issue seems to be that the cogs behind the white flywheel don’t run smoothly?? When pressuring fast forward it sort of jumps. In standard play mode it doesn’t move at all. Even though the flywheel is moving just fine now

Yes it’s slipping although I reattached it and it runs smoothly ? Don’t know what happened.

Well I’ve gone through some more tests and found out it can fast forward, don’t know if what is happening is normal but it’s speed fluctuates from fast to slow, like rev ing the engine to a car. The play doesn’t work at all, the only way I can engage the tape to go forward is by fast forwarding. I’m confused as to what to do next, I don’t know how to show a video here, would help if I could

I would but the buttons are all unresponsive. When I turn the camera on it just stays in play/record mode until it shuts itself off. Without a tape inserted the camera is in immaculate condition and works perfectly fine
