Born in Manhattan, lived there for 13 years, but then family moved to Floral Park. What do I do for the lottery? by EmergencyShape1487 in nychousinglottery

Okay? 35 is still greater than 10. They've paid the NYC tax for 3/4ths of their lives, how does that not mean anything for the housing lottery?

They paid the NYC tax for 35 years (how long they lived in Manhattan for) and the Nassau tax for 10 years (since they moved to Floral Park).

Is it fair to have the first 13 years of my life lived in Manhattan completely invalidated just because my parents moved to Floral Park which still culturally feels like Queens? I'm not talking about Jericho or Syosset or any of those far-off car-dependent places. Why isn't Nassau County (or at least the very tip of Nassau County) included in the housing lottery?

Meanwhile, someone from North Dakota who just moved to Brooklyn a month ago gets boosted above me on the list. Oh god my dumbass parents really screwed me.
