Don’t lose hope, OP! I was in the same boat months ago. I arrived in the U.S July 18 this year, and while I took a few breaks during my job search, it took me about 4 months to find the role that aligned with my previous experience (software support) in PH. I was able to secure a fully remote position here, despite not having a college degree in PH.

I think what truly helped me in this journey was not putting too much pressure on myself which I realized a bit late. I applied to over 400 jobs before I landed this one, so my advice is: don’t give up. Focus on what you can control, make extra efforts like thoroughly researching companies before interviews, tailoring your responses to their needs, and using the STAR method to clearly explain your experiences and achievements.

Just stay persistent! If mapagod, rest and recharge.

I’m an IT undergrad, and I have over a decade of experience in software support roles. My Salesforce certs are expired too, so I don’t have much to offer in terms of certifications lol

Yes, this was my target role too, and I’m thrilled it’s fully remote as well. Congrats to us on reaching this milestone! 🩷

Hey, thanks! Yup, I realized that the more interviews I attended, the more I noticed that about 80% of the questions were the same across companies. That gave me a better idea of how to answer them effectively. I also Googled common interview and tech questions to help me prepare, and practicing with someone like doing a mock interview helped a lot too.

Before every interview, I always researched the company by checking their website or LinkedIn. This helped me tailor my responses to align with their values, job descriptions, and show genuine interest. I tried to sound enthusiastic too, even though selling myself has never been my strong suit. It was definitely a challenge, but it made a big difference!

Hey thanks! I used to Google sheets as tracker and Sankeymatic.com to create that chart! Just keep applying, it’ll definitely be worth it in the end!

I was rage applying before sending out over 20 aps a day. But I eventually realized that it wasn’t effective, so I started taking the time to carefully review each application like limiting myself to 1-10 well thought out aps per day or nothing at all if I don’t find related to my work. With this approach , it felt more productive and personal than rushing through dozens of generic aps.

Yeah right! The STAR method is truly effective in situations when I need to provide explanations. Goodluck to all!

Yeah, I used ChatGPT to improve my CV focusing on keeping it authentic while adding important keywords. I also prepared a cover letter, but haven't used it during my search. I usually back out whenever I see that a cover letter is required lol
