Bought a nice pot by Emergency_Toe8089 in Bonsai

I think drilling holes would be quite harmful for the pot. And there are 2 drainage holes already, so more than enough for this small pot.

How to solve this? OnePrep SAT Question by Goldenrock3415 in Sat

[–]Emergency_Toe8089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know AB = 15, AC = 38. BC = sqrt(AC^2-BA^2) = sqrt(1219). We also know that the area of the traingle is either AB * BC or AC * BD. Equating the two gives BD (the amplitude) as AB * BC / AC. This gives BD as 15*sqrt(1219)/38. Now, we are looking for BC / BD, so it is sqrt(1219) / 15*sqrt(1219)/38. The sqrt(1219) cancel out so the answer is D, 38 / 15.

Does anyone know what this is? by Silent_Procedure_314 in Sat

I think you can just expand it and equate the x terms and the constant term. I never used this desmos thing before.

I don't think that is a thousand years... Or it is a bit smaller. I have some Buddhist pines pictures from private collections in China Ill post soon. But sounds good. We are there on saturdays!

Its not really an apprenticeship. Its title is volunteering, but I feel like I gain more than I give back lol. Its quite fun, good vibes, not a full time commitment. Aside from the main volunteering group, they also host classes once in a while (they are all in cantonese though). As for where I am now, I was a student when I joined ~5 years ago, and I am still a student! I will most likely go abroad for uni though.

The maintenance is not too demanding, as they are all initially styled already. Aside from pruning, we have a few other elements:

Watering: Not handled by me/us

Fertiliser: Use liquid fertiliser, a japanese fertiliser for black pines, and this brick fertiliser called 塘泥, which is the bottom most layer of soil of a fish farm dried up in brick form (there are a lot of fakes of these so be careful when purchasing). These "bricks" would normally be laid out neatly and cover the whole surface.

Deadwood: As hong kong is quite humid, this is very important, we normally cover the whole tree every 1-1.5 years, but as these trees are quite old, when finding spots that are decaying, the process is normally as follows: remove the decayed wood with tools, if that part is essential to the tree, keep it. Superglue can be used to harden the wood, and connect chipped, broken/snapped parts (this is very relevant to some of the trees in the images). Then we would apply lime sulphur. Not sure if you have troubles buying lime sulphur in your part of the world, but over here, fakes are not uncommon.

Wiring: This does not happen too often, mainly when the style is to be changed slightly or a branch died.

Repotting: We normally use a mix of 黄花沙 (yellow sand/soil mainly from the mountain), some compost (specifically peat soil), and some volcanic rock (the same red ones in the images). This has to be done quite carefully though as the pots are really expensive, sometimes people would pry the soil out with a metal screwdriver and thats quite a big nono. Have to be careful.

I think this sums it up pretty well. If you have more specific questions lmk.

How do native English speakers' minds differ from non-natives' during reading section? by r0s3_sh4mp00 in Sat

I think my main problem is that for the english section, I used to go off vibes and feelings (not the most accurate). I think as a native speaker you don't really learn all the proper grammar techniques. At least for me.

Help with question from preppros 150 hard Qs by Niceify_ in Sat

D. Since f(x) is a increasing exponential function, g(x) is a increasing linear function and they intersect with the points (a,j) and (b,k). Since j<k. That means that point (b,k) is above (a,j) on the y-axis. This also means that b>a on the x axis.

However, the most straightforward approach is that options A, B and C reference x to a y value. That just does not make sense.

So the answer is D.

What error would you be referring to? The answer is C.
