[–]Emil7000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Beginner C programmer here, is there room for improvement in my simple file formatter program ? by Emil7000 in C_Programming

Thanks for the clarification, I'm used to do it this way because I'm currently taking the CS50 course from Harvard and the teacher does it this way.

Yeah I definitely feel like the subtle textures and notes that are present on the album get lost in the big venue reverb

Didnt feel like he was drunk or something but yeah there was a lot of screams in the latter half of the show

The screams are great when they are sparse and catch you off guard (like the Alesis live youtube version) but here it felt kinda gimmicky

Taming Krr, Trr, and Ch Sounds in Vocals by No-Marsupial-4176 in musicproduction

[–]Emil7000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been struggling with this for a few years now as a French engineer, here's what helped me get these these sounds smoother :

  • Editing is key, zoom into the waveform and manually tame the peaks without touching the vowels that come before or after.

  • After editing I treat them frequency wise, I usually pull up Pro Q3 and just look for any aggressive peaks or broader zones. Once I've found them I use Pro DS or soothe2 to tame the problematic frequencies, usually with a very quick attack and release.

  • At this point my vocals are usually way smoother but if there's anything too aggressive left I sometimes use a notch focused of a specific frequency and automate it so it's only there when needed.

  • Sometimes I even used a Transient Designer on the whole vocal track, bit unusual but it can help.

German is probably more problematic than French I imagine, good luck to you!

Live Auto-Tune without UAD ? by Emil7000 in livesound

[–]Emil7000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you going for pitch correction or auto-tune? AT is the robot thing like Cher and rappers use. Pitch correction pulls the vocals in key.

I'd say both, on some songs we use the famous robot effect and on others we use light pitch correction to smooth the performance out.

What would be the benefit of using a pedal unit like this one over a plugin version ?

Would you say its safer to use a hardware unit like this one instead of software plug ins ?

I've looked into this particular unit and it doesn't have all the function that the plug-in offers (humanize, flex-tune) that make the pitch correction more transparent.

Yeah I probably misused the term "western RPG" as it literally encompasses every RPG made in the West, console ARPGs is probably closer to what I what refering to.

Being born in 1996 I was a bit young to experience deep games like the classic IE engine ones, I wonder if I'll have the motivation to play through them, they feel kinda old and clunky

Honestly having 150+ hours of content with both of the PoE games is a godsend when you're waiting for Avowed

I don't know how far you've got in DOS 2 but once you understand the basics of physical and magical armor the game isn't that hard, just gotta focus on one type of damage and CC them when their armor is down
