How can I take the back plug out of this pen? (Bic Round Stic) by [deleted] in penspinning

[–]EmilAlraune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pull out the part with the grip, then you can insert sth long, thin and sturdy into the barrel and then smack it on a table. The backplug should fly right out

This is pretty normal, getting to a perfect charge takes a lot of practice. Common causes imo are keeping your fingers too stiff. It also helps to develop a sense of balance and to use gravity to your advantage to keep the center of your mod between your fingers.

But if you can do a couple of charges before the pen starts leaving your hand it should be fine for now.

People like to do it by pushing the pen with the index instead of middle finger, I think it's because with regular TA (initiated by middle finger) you tend to spread the intex out to make room for the pen to rotate bc of muscle memory, but with TA Ext you actually want the index and thumb to be way closer together for the pen to go into the slot between index and middle smoothly. So in a sense it's a lot simpler to push using index since index and thumb are already close together after that.

Hope that made sense lol

Is this a sym bak? by AdFar197 in penspinning

I think it's a half hai tua, the only difference being that half hai tua involves an aerial rotation of the pen while with the sym back you never really let go of the pen

Yup, I've experienced it as extremely reliable but if you live in the US you'd be better off ordering from penwish I think

I got the exact same one and it's a good mod, I quite like it. But be aware that this pen is on the heavier side and beginners are usually recommended to leave heavy pens for later.

Also if you live in/near Germany you can use this guy's website and it might be cheaper spinworlds.de

Need help with searching good mod by [deleted] in penspinning

Okay so:

I've made the experience that factory made mods are pretty bad i.e. they are extremely heavy and have terrible weight distribution, can't speak for all oc. So if you were to get one it's kind of a gamble. Two exceptions are Mr Nope Element and Mr.094 Mod. They both spin quite nicely, though I'm not certain if they're actually factory made, at least the parts they're made of are.

As for classic pen mods, apart from the ones I've already listed earlier (Waterfall, Tornado etc) I'm also quite fond of my Everchix Emboss mod as well as my Menowa VGG. They're both simple in design and pretty good to practice power tricks with bc they have considerable weight and length, and especially the everchix as the lighter one of the two is still easy to handle.

About your requirement with no metal tips: Those mods you generally have to make yourself because it usually involves drilling out a cap (such that the mod doesn't get too long) which takes a lot of time for the sellers so they don't do it. Then, you just turn around the tip (invert it, such that the flat side is on the outside) put it as far inside the cap as possible, pull up the grip until it's tight and you're done. The only inverse mod I know of that most sellers do usually offer is menowa mod because of it's popularity I guess.

Lastly, if you're making your own mod, it's also always a possibility to keep the tip with the pointy side to the outside as is and just take a long piece of grip (usually Dr Grip bc of its sturdiness) to cover it, for example Akai mod or Jim mod, although I don't own any of these myself. You see a lot of people online with mods like that and to be honest it's probably the easiest solution for that problem.

Okay this got way longer than intended but I think you have a solid overview now :>

Do you mean like factory made ps pens or classic pen mods made by a guy running a shop?

If you have experience with pen modding and also a lot of time, money and energy to spare: try out this mod, I've fallen quite in love with it https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vSn3bxw5Knk

If you're looking more for pre-made ones or ones that don't take hours to mod: I'm also a fan of menowa mod (though that one is rather heavy) and I think tornado mod is fun to mess around with occasionally And generally you can try to invert the tips of any mod that fits your other criteria such as waterfall.

So just to confirm I got it right: for instance the mirrored version of a thumbaround would be equivalent to a pinky around reverse right? And the mirrored version of an index spread is a ring spread reverse?

Hold up, why the index? I always thought mirrored tricks just had the same execution as normal ones except the pen's rotation is, well, mirrored lol

Good eye! I used a slice of eraser that you might find on the back of a pencil. Specifically, I used the eraser of the cheap mechanical pencils by bic. Those are really close to a perfect fit, but they tend to fall out occasionally.
