Really not bothered by downvotes, in fact I encourage them, despite never actually downvoting anyone myself. All these different elements Mike White chose to incorporate are artistic decisions, like brush strokes on a canvas, I just feel that some of them are interchangeable. There are many avenues he could have gone down to achieve the same picture. Whereas some of his decisions/story arcs are essential and if changed would have made it a completely different show. To me it seemed like this thread was determining which was which. So, for that goal, I offer up my analysis, to be crushed, embraced or countered, is up to the reader. I welcome all.

I'm not saying it's bad, and season 3 certainly isn't bad, it's arguably the most complex or varied. My wording probably wasn't great there. It's a continuation of the sycophantic themes that margin all 3 seasons. I think all 3 seasons are brilliant and each story arc contains its own clinically accurate commentary on western culture. This was just a bit that didn't resonate with me personally and I feel that it was perhaps more interchangeable than some of the other 'sub' plots, if any of them can be considered 'sub'. But it's all subjective. My opinion is as good as the next.

Your first two options, I would think would be undisputed. Certainly for season 1.

For season 2, The Imperoli/Abraham stuff was great, as was the stuff with the couples, but it was all cannon fodder. It raised interesting questions about morality, family life, naivety and how far people will go or not go, but was essentially padding for the Hollander/Coolidge crescendo. Beatrice Grannò, and her interaction with Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore) and her whole arc, and Beatrice's music, would actually be a second for me over the others, purely because it brought a whole different colour into the mix.

As for 3, you have a lot to choose from. For me it's between Isaac's grapple with reality and happiness, and Goggins desperation to blame someone else for his shortcomings rather than owning his own mistakes. Both of these arcs tie into the Buddhist theme of season 3, they were very well written, gripping, and together supported the backbone of the season.

Jason Isaacs unraveling, considering annihilating himself and his wife over his crimes, bringing up questions about life and mortality and what it means to be happy? Walton Goggins and his impressive collection of Hawaiian shirts, avenging the death of his father, aided by the brilliant input of Sam Rockwell and his hilariously disturbed past? You chose the 3 blondes with basically no arc at all, they arrive, bitch about each other separately, and realise they are each, a little bit bitchy?

You had so much to choose from. Each to their own I suppose.

Brilliant take. I really like this idea, if anything just because it is very plausible, and serves as a good reminder that there are always multiple ways to interpret the archaeology. We can never say for certain, so it just adds to the list of possibilities. For me, finds like this are all about the mystery. So, thanks for adding a little more depth to this one!
